Summer floral design room ideas 2013 – 10 of the best

Bold and beautiful florals instantly say ‘summer’ and are the perfect way to give your home a fresh look for the new season.

There are plenty of ways to introduce florals in to your existing room scheme for a pretty update. Choose from wall art, feature wallpaper or gorgeous accessories to create a whole new look.

If you’re ready to embrace bold colour and pattern on a grand scale, consider having a mural painted on your wall. For example, an abstract floral design, or an oversized botanical mural, will look equally good in a living room or bedroom.

Create a contemporary feel with a streamlined modern sofa in a bold shade, perhaps choosing one of the key colours in your mural.

Or if you want a vintage-style bedroom, use the mural as a backdrop to a classic iron bed dressed with further floral prints on bedcovers and quilts.

If murals are beyond your budget, a bold wallpaper used on a feature wall is very effective. Decorate with a multi-coloured floral paper and add white floating shelves plus a chic white sofa to keep the look fresh.

Alternatively try using a blowsy rose design teamed with vibrant accessories such as a throws and cushions. Orange, teal and cerise pink are good choices to keep this look on trend.

Buy a stylish chair for your hallway, such as a timeless mid-century design with tapered legs, and reupholster it in a fabric inspired by watercolours – there are some beautiful painterly designs to choose from that depict peonies, blossom and wildflower meadows.
