Frustrated renters have photographed themselves holding pieces of paper
and card on which they have written how much they are paying to live in
the capital in squalid conditions.
The social media campaign was started by Generation Rent after talking to people who were becoming increasingly frustrated by renting prices and conditions in the Big Smoke.
One Twitter user did not have heating for a whole winter in a house that she shared with eight others, while another had to live with an infestation of rats.
Mould and no heating was a common complaint among the people who shared their experiences on Twitter.
One man said the situation was so bad that he had to sleep in the living room for two years.

to treat the mould in his flat, adding that he can’t afford to move. Many people have been calling on the London Mayor to address housing affordability in the capital.
