The keys to a £1million farm in Wales could be yours – if you’re prepared to pull your woolly weight

Fancy getting away from it all and living the quiet life on your own coastal farm? Well, we have the rental pad for you!

For the small fee of £1 a year, you could be calling Parc Farm in North Wales home, but there’s a bit of a catch for the lucky resident.

Last year, the National Truststepped in to protect the rare and fragile landscape of the Great Orme in Llandudno, North Wales.

The charity is now recruiting a tenant who will take on all farm responsibilities in return for the knockdown price, with the long-term aim of restoring the landscape as a thriving habitat for wildlife.

The tenant would pay a lease of £1 a year for 10 years to work the 145-acre farm and enjoy the on-site farmhouse – a bit of a bargain when you find out the land would cost a whopping £1 million on the open market.

Thanks to the conservation charity Plantlife, the farm comes complete with a flock of sheep – needed to graze the Great Orme and restore the local landscape.

Speaking about the project, General Manager William Greenwood said: ‘For the benefit of the Orme we’re looking for a tenant who sees a productive farm as one that maintains healthy wildlife and encourages visitors to act for nature, as well as produce good, healthy food.

‘And to give him or her a head start and the best chance of success, we’re taking away the financial pressure of having to cover the rent for the farm, the grazing rights and the farmhouse each year.’

Well, that doesn’t sound too baaaad. For more info, contact the National Trust.
