Who needs weekends filled with DIY chores – today’s buyers are looking for toasty underfloor heating, energy efficiency and cheap fuel bills
Property shows would almost have us believe that, when it comes to buying a house, unless the place has potential or you’re planning to extend, it isn’t worth buying.
But some of us just want an easy life and a home that’s ready to move in to – 17% to be precise – according to new research from the Ask for Underfloor campaign.
Perfect walls, underfloor heating and the chance to put your feet up – yes please!
And when it comes to the over-55s, 36% are looking for a home that
doesn’t need any work doing to it (oh and if it’s easy to clean and
close to the shops, that would be quite nice too).
The findings come from a survey of over 1,000 UK respondents who have purchased a house in the past three years, or will be looking to buy in the next 24 months.
In fact, aspirational Brits are looking for energy efficiency, as 47% of us want to move to a home with features that will help lower fuel bills.
The top three features on homeowners’ wishlists are properties with energy-efficient features, a conservatory and underfloor heating.
are prepared to pay for these extras too, and 65% would pay over
£2,500 more for their next home.
‘It’s no surprise that almost half of those surveyed said that when they next move, the most important factor will be a home with lower fuel bills,’ says Chris Ingram, from the Ask for Underfloor campaign.
‘Over a third (36%) of homeowners told us they would look for underfloor heating.’
