George Home teams up with The Prince’s Trust to support young design talent

George Home has partnered with youth charity The Prince’s Trust for the second year running to help support up-and-coming designers. Sophie Best, 22, from Birmingham, and Deborah Ballinger, 26, from Nottingham, worked closely with the in-house design team at George Home to create two fantastic, limited-edition, homeware collections. Let’s take a peek at them…

Homespun by Sophie Best

Homespun celebrates the ‘make-do-and-mend’ revival and Sophie’s love of craft. Her charming hand-sketched designs, floral twines and woodland creatures are key features seen throughout the collection, with her look being beautifully translated into a range of fun kitchen accessories, textiles and soft furnishings.

Sophie says: ‘I think hand-made items are very special and I wanted to
recreate this style for the family home in a more commercial range. I sampled
ideas on the sewing machine, so you can see interesting stitch-line
detailing.’

This Patch double duvet set costs only £12 and bed cushions, from £5.

Our must-have item is this adorable fox cushion. It’s a steal at £8 and the little fabric sewing box, £3, will come in handy for essential craft kit that needs a home.

Palm Springs by Deborah Ballinger

Deborah’s collection offers something a little different and will make
you want to escape to the tropics. Palm Springs is a strong punchy look
for summer. Vibrant blooms, exotic birds and fun pineapple motifs
feature on cushions, bed linen and colourful melamine picnicware. Think Fifties Americana! The tropical colour palette is made up of bright corals, pinks, blue and yellow.

Our must-have items are the pineapple lamp, £20, and these pelican picnic plates, from £1.30 each.
