Fenella Smith’s homeware collection is the personification of animal magic

Livingetc is going (barking) mad for the ceramicist’s captivating creatures

Animals are British ceramicist Fenella Smith‘s thing and her brilliant illustrations of happy hounds and feisty foxes are making a big noise in the interiors world. Drawing on her eccentric and bohemian childhood in the country, she conjures up characterful creatures in the most humorous and uplifting of scenarios from her studio in Henley-on-Thames.

New for autumn/winter 2014 is Hunting, Shooting, Fishing – a wonderfully witty collection of handmade tableware depicting a truly fantastic Mr Fox and his game-for-a-laugh sporting chums Pheasant, Fish and Horse, all putting their own spin on ‘countryside pursuits’.
As well as jugs and mugs, from £14.50, the complementary stationery range, made in the UK out of high-quality paper, also has the must-have factor – this notebook, £8.50, is sure to inspire you to jot down lots of brilliant thoughts and ideas, while the matching cards are perfect for penning thank yous.

Fenella’s recently launched Dogs Trust
range, meanwhile, is guaranteed to make you go all soppy for doggies and sees 25 per cent of the proceeds going directly to the charity. We’re particularly taken with this delicately turned Little jug, £18.50, with its delectable Dalmatian and dinky Dachshund. The nicest way to indulge in a spot of philanthropy we can think of…
