Go East: Property prices climb faster in the East of England than the rest of the UK

Analysts suggest property market "action" has moved out of London as prices soar in the East

Forget the Big Smoke, the hottest part of the UK is officially the East of England according to the latest statistics from the Office of National Statistics.

Figures published by the ONS show that property prices in the East rose 8.3% in the past year, while London only grew by 5.5%.

Overall, UK house prices have increased by 5.2% from July 2014 to July 2015.

Analysts say that more and more people are moving out of London to places such as Cambridge and Colchester in search of affordable properties.
