Cheers to Gin! Sainsbury's toasts record sales ahead of royal wedding

Sainsbury's predicts classic G&T will be THE royal wedding tipple of choice as sales soar

With the royal nuptials only days away now, wedding fever has gripped the nation. With Meghan and Harry themed parties being thrown up and down the nation, it's more likely than not a few G&Ts will be poured to toast the occasion.

The recent surge in flavoured gins, with everything from Sipsmith's Lemon Drizzle to Whitely Neills Rubarb and Ginger, this classic tipple has been trending of late. Sainsbury's gin sales are up by 30 per cent from last year.

Our love of this traditional summer drink has led Sainsbury’s to predict that gin will be the tipple of choice for those toasting the Royal nuptials this weekend. This love affair with all things G&T doesn't stop at the source, it seems we can't get enough of all the servingware too! Sales of Sainsbury’s Home gin glasses soared by almost 230 per cent.

'We have noticed our sales of gin glasses and accessories have increased rapidly compared to the more traditional wine and champagne flutes', explains Holly Whait, Tabletop Buyer for Sainsbury’s Home.

'We have extended our range and recently launched a modern take on the gin tumbler. The Miami inspired gold rimmed gin glass has flown off the shelves. It looks beautiful with citrus slices and the balloon shape allows the aroma to be appreciated more.'
