Tag team: Jean Paul Gaultier and Lelièvre make their mark with graffiti-style fabrics

Giving luxe French style an urban twist, Gaultier's new collection takes its cue from the Parisian street

Never one to buck a trend, Jean Paul Gaultier‘s latest fabrics take inspiration from Parisian street art, with graffiti-like graphics and a mélange of colours that reflect the city’s cosmopolitan style.

In contrast to the plush look and tactile feel of Lelièvre‘s pure cotton fabrics, the spray-painted typography and overlaid images have a raw, urban edge.

Two designs in particular have caught Livingetc‘s eye: first up is Street in Graphite, a playful mix of comic-strip cartoons and tattoo-like shapes.

Underground in Noir takes the look one step further, with a series of intense images casting a shadow against the brooding black backdrop.

The fabrics are priced at £116 per m for Street and £178 per m for Underground.

If moody monochrome isn’t your style, take a look at the African-inspired Melting Pot, £161 per m, available in three more striking colourways.

And just to give Gaultier a deserved name check, try out this Revelation cotton-mix cushion, £99.

We think it’s right up our street…
