Darker evenings turn the focus onto lighting and if your home is feeling gloomy it's well worth checking out the new season lighting collections. We've put the spotlight on the high street and have earmarked the hot new lighting trends that are hitting the shops now.


Natural simplicity
Lighting takes a pared-back approach with the use of simple materials from natural woodgrain, bamboo and basketware to ceramics, paper and string. The look is simple and understated with fluid shapes and no unnecessary adornments.

Luxe metallics
Go for all-out glamour with this decadent look. Lighting becomes a statement feature with oversized pieces and ornate designs in luxe metallic finishes, from warm toned copper and rose golds to burnished brass, gold and platinum.

Hunting lodge
This quirky look is all about creating a cosy, ‘cabin-in-the-woods' feel with lots of warm-toned woods, vintage enamelware, antique brass and copper and rustic storm lanterns. Think hunting, shooting and fishing and you'll get the picture...look out for ‘trophy antler' lighting too.

Industrial finish
The urban, industrial look shows no sign of disappearing just yet and comes into its own when it comes to lighting. Expect to see lots of factory-style lighting and workshop lamps in burnished metals and raw materials such as concrete, wire and recycled glass. Details are key with exposed bulbs, fabric flexes and utility-style fittings and switches.
