How to make a photo tray

Want a new way to display your snaps? Then give Style at Home's photo tray a go

Black and white photographs are a great talking point, so show off your old family snaps with our decoupage tray idea.

Photocopy your pics first, so you can keep the originals safe. Why not theme a tray, using family wedding snaps to give as a gift for a bride and groom?

Takes 2hrs

Costs £27.59

What you’ll need

Shallow-sided tray, £21, Scumble Goosie

White satinwood or eggshell paint

Paintbrush

Old scenic and family black and white photographs

Scissors

PVA glue

Quick Drying Matt varnish, £6.49 for 250ml, Homebase

Make sure your tray is clean and dust free. Paint the sides with satinwood or eggshell. Leave to dry, then add a second coat.

Photocopy your favourite old photographs (or try the library or a print
shop). Carefully cut out, leaving a white border around each.

Place the photographs onto the tray and, when you are happy with the
arrangement (try overlapping some), stick down with PVA glue. Leave to
dry before brushing the whole tray with a coat of varnish.
