Want to save water this summer? Beat the drought with these simple water-saving ideas for your kitchen and bathroom. From how to fix a dripping tap to reusing water, we show you the best ways to save water.
Filling up a jug or a bottle of drinking water at the start of each day is an easy (and totally free) way of saving water. Keeping it in the fridge means you won’t have to run the kitchen tap for ages to get a cold drink and just using one glass throughout the day will cut back on washing up endless cups and glasses, saving even more water.
Electric kettles use a lot of energy, so think about how much water you need before you fill up. Most kettles will boil as little as one cupful, so don’t fill it right to the brim if you’re just making a cup of coffee for one.
Taking a shower instead of a bath can use half as much water and save on heating bills. Haven’t got room for a separate shower? A shower bath is a good space saving option. For more on all of these water saving tips visit the Energy Saving Trust website.
