Hello there! I'm Amy Cutmore, Digital Editor across Ideal Home, Homes & Gardens and Livingetc and winner of PPA Digital Content Leader of the Year 2018.
I've been writing about interiors and tech for 17 years – my first role was as a Features Writer, working on titles such as Inside Readers’ Homes, Inspirations for Your Home and Country House & Home, before joining TI Media (or as it was at the time, IPC). I've been part of the Ideal Home team since 2010.
At Ideal Home, I've served as Consumer and Technology Editor, before being promoted to Digital Editor in 2017. During my time on the title, I've honed my expertise on property and interior design, with a strong focus on kitchen and bathroom design and planning. I'm also a self-confessed technology geek, and ran tech blog, Girl About Tech, for five years – picking up an Amara Blog Award in the process.
Prior to working at Ideal Home, I was Deputy Sub Editor/Writer at 25 Beautiful Homes from 2008-2010, where I got involved with plenty of real home makeovers. And before that I held the Deputy Sub Editor/Writer position at Beautiful Kitchens, where I became an expert in everything from appliances to flooring to worktops – so feel free to ask me about anything from Corian to cornicing! I've also freelanced for titles such as Trusted Reviews, and Wareable.
As Digital Editor, I write about anything and everything homes-related, although my Mastermind-style specialist subjects are appliances and tech, kitchens and bathrooms. I'm also a buy-to-let landlord, with a small portfolio of three properties, so I'm clued up when it comes to renter and landlord rights and property advice in general.
Right now, I'm renovating my own three-bedroom period home in Bedfordshire. It's a big project that will incorporate a double-storey extension with fabulous new open-plan kitchen, and – finally – a bathroom upstairs! We've just fitted new flooring, radiators and timber windows at the front of the property, and hope the major work will start next year.
Anyone that knows me will tell you that I can't resist a Mid-Century Modern look, although recently I've been drawn to a more luxe style – think pink velvet sofas, brass and marble bar carts and sumptuous inky blue and bottle green walls.
