Happy 200th Birthday Debenhams!

The department store chain will launch a collection of luxury home and fashion wares to mark two centuries in retail.

It’s not every day you celebrate your 200th
birthday. So who can blame Debenhams for going to town with its celebrations?

We at Livingetc love the peppy and colourful limited edition plates and mugs from the Designers at Debenhams.

Ben de Lisi’s quirky Geek and Ella plates, both featuring French bulldogs, are perfect for a touch of modern-day kitsch.
Meanwhile Rocha. John Rocha and Matthew Williamson have opted for botanical designs featuring, flowers, peacocks and butterflies.

Debenhams began life on Christmas Day in 1813 when William Debenham bought a share of a draper’s store at 44 Wigmore Street, London’s West End, selling expensive bonnets, gloves and parasols.

The collection will be available in stores from November. Homeware prices range from £6 to £20.

Could there be a better excuse for a spot of celebratory shopping? Here’s your chance to own a bit of retail history.
