Calling all Vincent Van Gogh fanatics - now is your chance to stay in his famous bedroom
A group of artists have transformed a luxury flat in Chicago into a direct replica of Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles painting – a depiction of the artist’s personal suite in his Yellow House in Bouches-du-Rhone, France.
The property is now listed on Airbnb and could be yours to rent for a mere £7 a night.
The Art Institute of Chicago has created the room in celebration of a new exhibition that will see all three versions of the Bedroom in Arles showcased together in North America for the first time.
The real life bedroom has been decorated in an identical, post-impressionist design to the painting.
Everything from the brush strokes on the wooden floorboards to the painting and even the jug on the side table exist in the real flat.
The apartment owner, who goes by the name of Vincent on his Airbnb account, says the room will ‘make you feel like you’re living in a painting’ and is sure to ‘give you the experience of a lifetime.’
The owner also says: “I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint. However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago.”
Whilst the bedroom is true to the 1888 painting, the rest of the flat has been updated with a few modern touches such as an Internet connection, a TV and heating to make the stay more comfortable.
Positioned in a desirable location with a building doorman, pool and a gym, we imagine this is quite a leap from Van Gogh’s luxuries at his Yellow House!
So, if you fancy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay in Van Gogh’s famous painting, then be sure to stop by next time you’re in the Windy City.
