Hosting outdoors in the UK can always be a gamble thanks to our unpredictable weather. Usually, that would mean preparing for rain during a BBQ, but right now it's all about protecting guests from the heat, and I've found the perfect stylish shade solution on sale at Argos, the stylish Argos Home Garden Gazebo.

The best parasol is a great garden shade idea for a small space, but if you have a larger garden, I'd recommend investing in a gazebo, which will provide a larger, more stable shaded area. The Argos Home garden gazebo is usually priced at £170, but right now it is reduced by 20% to £136, making it a bargain price.

A gazebo is the ultimate multi-tasking outdoor hosting essential, protecting guests from rain and sun, whatever the weather. However, they're usually green or navy monstrosities, but not this one. This beige gazebo wouldn't look out of place around the pool at a luxury resort.

The gazebo is the perfect neutral base for most outdoor living room ideas. I love how Argos has styled it with a corner outdoor sofa, rug and some striped soft furnishings to add a splash of colour.

However, I think it would look equally as stylish with two sunloungers and a side table underneath for a cooling spot for guests to recline. Since buying my first home with a tiny outdoor space, I've become obsessed with outdoor hosting. This week, I'm plotting a weekend BBQ to take advantage of the weather, and I've already made plans for a few other gatherings later this month. However, entertaining in a petite outdoor space can be challenging, so I have to be very selective about the things I choose to invest in for my garden, but I've spotted some outdoor hosting gems at Argos.

Currently, I've been getting by in my garden with a little bistro set and one of the best electric BBQs, the Lumin Webber available at Argos, for whipping up snacks. However, I think it's time for an upgrade. I don't have space for a full outdoor kitchen, but I have spied several bargains at Argos on Ninja's Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven and the Ninja Frostvault, both of which are reduced by 20%, which will do the trick in creating a micro outdoor kitchen instead.

I've also been eyeing up the Argos Home folding patio set to give me a little more space for people to sit when entertaining, but I can easily fold it away when it's not in use.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll probably know that it’s Amazon Prime Day this week. But as a Floorcare Editor who has covered these sales events for the past five years, I can tell you that Amazon isn’t the be-all and end-all of discounts. In fact, if you were looking to buy a Shark robot vacuum this week, I’d recommend shopping at Argos instead.

And right now, Argos is having a huge sale across its appliances, including the robot vacuum I’ve been using in my own home for the past few months - the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Mop (was £999.99, now £549.99 at Argos). Yes, that really is a £450 discount!

The beauty of the best robot vacuum cleaners (aside from their incredible ability to clean your house for you) is that they’re available at countless retailers across the UK - both online and in-store. And while Amazon and Shark are typically among the most obvious places to buy Shark robot vacuums, alternative retailers also slash prices year-round, including Argos and John Lewis.

While I don’t claim to know everything (if only), it is quite literally my job to review robot vacuum cleaners. So, I’d like to think I know my hands-free appliances. And Shark's PowerDetect UV Reveal Robot Vacuum impressed me so much during testing that I had to give it an almost-perfect 4.5-star review.

One of the things I didn’t like, however, was the price tag, so the fact that it’s now on sale at Argos for almost half price is a major win in my book. Especially as the black colourway I have at home isn’t on sale for the Amazon Prime event, and it’s not on sale at Shark, either, as it’s completely sold out due to high demand.

However, it’s worth noting that the white colourway is on sale at Amazon for £489.99 if you’re looking for an even bigger discount. But as someone who has tested white robot vacuum cleaners before, I would always willingly lean towards black to try and hide the inevitable scuffs and marks that appear during cleaning. Both colourways are identical in perks and features, though.

The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal has a runtime of 180 minutes, will also mop your floors while vacuuming, and comes with an auto-empty dock that can hold up to 1.51L of debris - making maintenance as minimal as possible.

As with all the best Shark vacuum cleaners, it’s also ridiculously easy to use and perfect for beginners who are buying their first robot vacuum. The pièce de résistance of this model, though, has to be the UV reveal technology, which uncovered so many hidden stains on my hard flooring (and left me feeling rather embarrassed).

But I wouldn’t be telling you to ditch Amazon and Shark for Argos on the basis of one robot vacuum cleaner deal, though.

That’s because Argos has also slashed the prices of other Shark robot vacuum cleaners, including the bargain Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Cordless Robot Vacuum Cleaner & Mop (was £285.70, now £199.99 at Argos).

Alternatively, you could opt for the Shark ThermaCharged PowerDetect Robot Vacuum Cleaner (was £900, now £499.99 at Argos).

I haven’t tested either of them as there are simply too many robot vacuums and only one of me, so I would advise you to do your own research and read independent reviews.

If you have a tighter budget but still want a high-tech robot vacuum cleaner, this one impressed me during testing - especially when it came to mopping hard floors. It's now under £300 on Amazon, which is a discount I can definitely get behind.

Given the week’s forecast, it is unsurprising that these brilliant appliances are practically flying off the shelves.

Hence, it is unusual to see a relatively affordable and well-rated model such as the Bush 9K Portable Air Conditioner still in stock. This three-in-one air conditioner is great for cooling small rooms. It can be noisy, however due to it's affordable price point, this is to be expected.

First things first, portable air conditioners are worth it. Period. Offering the same benefits as a fitted AC, without the installation or start-up fee, these handy appliances are brilliant at keeping a room cool during a heatwave. And with the UK expected to reach record temperatures this week, I don’t know about you, but I need all the cooling help I can get.

The Bush 9K Air Conditioner offers to take the edge off the heat with auto, cooling, fan and dry modes to keep you comfortable. It has an easy-to-read LED display, and you can control it via the panel or a remote control - so you don’t have to move from your bed or sofa!

It has a sleep mode and a 24-hour timer, while its auto-restart feature will remember your preferences. The machine operates at a sound level of 64dB, which may be a little loud, so bear that in mind if you were hoping for a whisper-quiet appliance (like the new Meaco Circo).

It also has an energy efficiency rating of Class A and uses 1,000W of power. If you’re worried about the cost of running a portable air conditioner, most models are between 1,000 and 1,300 watts (W), with 1,000W costing 26.11p per hour to run, according to the recent July Price Cap.

Having spotted the new Argos Home 5 Seater Sofa Set on one of my frequent trawls of the Argos website, I was immediately impressed with its curved design. Curved garden furniture really took off as a trend last year, following the curved sofa trend inside the home.

Its modular design forms a semicircle when the pieces are slotted together, opening up the space on your patio and making it a more sociable spot. The modular set combines two benches, a snug corner seat and a compact coffee table, which you can move and style as you please. It also has plump, beige cushions, which add to the overall inviting vibe.

One of the biggest draws of modular furniture is its customisability. Not all gardens were created equal, and if you have a small garden or an irregularly shaped garden, a modular garden furniture set can help you tailor your furniture to suit the space you have.

The Argos Home 5 Seater Sofa Set is designed to be lightweight and easy to move, so you can style it as you please. What I will say is that some reviews mention it is heavier than expected, so it may be better to get someone to help you move it around.

‘Absolute love my garden corner sofa. It is actually much larger and heavier for the price I paid. Building the furniture was a little fiddly using an Alan key, although I would say you have to read the instructions and you will not have any problems. The cushions are extra plump and comfortable. You can easily move the seating around as each section is held together with two straps, which can easily be removed, so you do not have to keep it in a corner configuration, although I find it so stylish. Really happy with my purchase,’ said one review.

Anthropologie has long been one of my favourite stores to browse pretty homeware, candles, glass and tableware. But having also spotted Argos Home’s Valentine’s Day collection this year, I had to do a double-take as it looks so good, it could easily be mistaken for Anthropologie.

It’s true that stylish people use Anthropologie to nail the latest home decor trend effortlessly. And as much as I want to be one of these stylish people, there’s no denying that Anthropologie is a little on the expensive side - which is why I’m so excited to see Argos doing more or less the same thing, but for half the price.

For a long time, I’ve believed that Anthropologie’s Valentine’s Day collections are unmatched, but these picks are leading me to change my mind - and I’m sure yours is about to change, too.

If you want to shop cute, statement homeware, Anthropologie is always a great option, and it is their Valentine’s edit that captures our attention every year. Their viral bow coupe glasses are one great example of how the brand’s designs can instantly turn your tablescape or hosting into a stylish yet fun experience.

The washing-up is easily one of my least favourite jobs. And the part I hate most? Dirty dish water pooling on my worktops. I've been looking for ways to avoid this step, and in doing so, I came across Argos Home’s clever new dish drainer.

I know, I know it’s not exactly glamorous. But a dish drainer is an essential part of any organised kitchen, and with a built-in drainer, this £12 Argos Home one is really smart.

I’d wager there aren’t many people who enjoy doing the washing up, which is why this kitchen storage idea is a worthy investment. Not only will it help dry your dishes faster, but it will also create a more hygienic space. It’s a small feature that makes a big difference.

With feet to keep your dish off the side and out of pooling water, plus a clever drainage pipe, this drainer is one of the smartest I've seen.

The rack is positioned on four legs, which will help protect your kitchen worktop sides from water damage. Its star feature is, of course, the drip tray, which allows excess water to run off into the sink and down the drain. One of my biggest bugbears, when it comes to the washing up, is how quickly excess water can dirty my sides. I used to own a plastic, tub-style drainer, which offered minimal drainage and therefore needed to be cleaned constantly.

I have since moved on to the Habitat Large Wire Dish Drainer (£9 at Argos), which has the handy legs to keep my drying dishes off the draining board, where water can pool. It also makes water run-off and cleanup easier to deal with. However, having seen Argos’ latest drainer and clever run-off pipe, I do feel like I’m missing out.

The tube sits under the drainer, designed to poke out over your sink bowl. It’s adjustable, too, so you can tailor it to suit your sink's design. The drainer itself has an 8L capacity, and can hold up to nine plates with extra space for bowls and glasses. It’s also made from powder-coated steel, making it rustproof - so you don’t have to worry about replacing it after a few months.

Like most drainers, it has a separate container for cutlery. This storage cup doesn’t have a drainage feature, so you would have to keep on top of its cleaning. However, on the whole, I do think this is a more hygienic alternative to a standard drainer. And yes, a dish drainer is a little boring a topic of conversation, but it is the sort of clever feature that those who have a tidy kitchen always have.

The RRP of the Breville Barista Max Espresso Coffee Machine is usually £449, but it is generally on sale for £300 at Argos, which is already a great price. But this year is the first time I've seen the price drop below £300, making it one of the best value machines on the market right now.

Now, don't let the low price make you question the quality, as Breville make some of the best coffee machines in the UK. It's also the same coffee machine that I've been using in my kitchen for the last five years.

My brew of choice is a cow's milk latte, and this Breville coffee machine has been a part of my morning ritual for the last five years as I've perfected my latte art. It has the look of a more expensive coffee machine (many people have mistaken it for a Sage coffee machine) and works a treat, too. It even has the seal of approval from my best friend's partner, who is a professional barista and tasked with coffee duty every time they're round for breakfast.

It has its downsides; the grinder can be a little messy, and the coffee quality is a little unreliable because it doesn't have an auto coffee ground dosing feature or a temperature sensor for steaming the milk. Essentially, don't expect your first (or second) coffee to be great; it's going to take a bit of practice.

However, after testing a new, more expensive coffee machine in my home over the last few months, I've found this to be the downside of most bean-to-cup machines. Unless you're able to afford an expensive, fully automatic coffee machine like the Ninja Luxe Café, you are going to have to practice a little to get cafe-worthy results.

At this point, I'm sure you're still wondering what the catch is, why it's so much cheaper. The simple reason is that it's an older model. It's been replaced by several newer models that look slicker, more modern and include more automated features to make it easier to brew up a great cup of coffee.

But if you're happy to forgo the automated aspects, you will not get better than this coffee machine at this price point.

Argos has quietly dropped the best Emma mattress Black Friday discounts I've seen this year – you can save over £500 right now

Emma has recently launched its Black Friday sale, offering what the brand promises are its lowest prices yet on selected bestselling lines.

That includes discounts of 25% off on the Emma Hybrid Thermosync Mattress, which Ideal Home has tried, tested, and rates the best Emma mattress you can buy. However, I've found a way to shop Emma's bestselling mattresses for even less.

Whilst a double Hybrid Thermosync Mattress is currently reduced from £799 to £599.25 on Emma's website, I've discovered a way to bag this bestseller for just £378. That's a further £221.25 saving, and it isn't the only Emma mattress that's had its price slashed.

That's right, as Ideal Home's Sleep Editor, I keep track of all of the best prices on the best mattresses on the market, and I've discovered Argos currently has the Emma Hybrid Thermosync mattress on sale for just £378. That's cheaper than the Black Friday deals currently live on Emma's own website.

If you were shopping for a super king-size mattress, the savings would be even more dramatic.

Full price, a super king in the Emma Hybrid ThermoSync mattress costs £1049. Emma has the super king on sale for £786.75. At Argos you can shop a super king for £492. That's a £557 saving on normal RRP, and the best deal I've seen this year.

The even better news is that as a part of Argos' early Black Friday promotions, this mattress comes with Argos' price guarantee. That means that you can shop confidently knowing Argos won't reduce the price any further before Christmas.

This doesn't guarantee that another retailer won't lower the price of this mattress even further, but I've been keeping an eye on Black Friday deals for the past four years, and with the current Argos sale prices already offering a whopping 47% reduction on the mattress's normal retail value, I think it's highly unlikely we'll see a better saving on offer any time soon.

Plus, as I mentioned, it isn't just the Emma Hybrid Thermosync mattress that Argos currently has discounted.

We've tested and reviewed most of Emma's mattress collection at Ideal Home, and overall, we feel the Emma Hybrid ThermoSync mattress offers the best mix of comfort, support, and temperature regulation.

However, there are several more affordable Emma mattresses available, including the Emma Hybrid Premium mattress and Emma Hybrid Original mattress, the first of which also has a significant saving at Argos.

That said, when it comes to Emma's most affordable mattress, the Hybrid Original, Emma still has the best price. Although that does mean you can score a more premium Emma mattress at Argos for cheaper than you'd pay for the entry-level model at Emma.

Affordable Le Creuset dupes are nothing new. For example, I’m actively excited to see Aldi and Lidl Le Creuset alternatives hit their respective middle aisle every few months. But Argos’ pumpkin casserole may be the cheapest I’ve ever seen.

At £12 for a 2.1L capacity, I’d argue this pot is excellent value for money. It’s large enough to use as a serving dish for the whole family, and is both oven and dishwasher-safe. Its bright orange hue is very similar to the iconic Volcanic colourway, and while the stalk isn’t the same stunning gold as a Le Creuset pumpkin dish, it’s still both pretty and detailed.

What I will say is that Le Creuset is offering more in terms of pumpkin cookware. Alongside the classic pumpkin casserole, you can also pick up a shallow pumpkin casserole dish (£299), a mini casserole dish (£50), a mug (£54) and even a butter dish (£67). These are available in an array of pretty colours, too.

While the Argos pumpkin casserole is limited by comparison, its price is unmatched, and the glowing reviews to back it up show it’s a worthy investment.

‘Lovely looking pumpkin casserole/serving dish. It states on the bottom that it is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe, though I’ve not tested these out. I use it as a serving dish for soup or casserole. It’s an ample size to house enough to serve a family, and as autumnal decoration, it looks fabulous in my kitchen. Very pleased,’ said one.

Argos has just dropped the price of its already very affordable heated clothes airer by 25% as part of its massive Argos Home sale. If you don't have one, I'd act fast, as these cold-weather laundry essentials are selling fast.

It's the two Argos own-brand heated airers that have both been discounted to under £100. The Argos Home 3 Tier Heated Airer has been dropped from £105 to £78, and the Argos Home Heated Clothes Airer with Wings has had its price slashed from £55 to £41.25.

The best heated clothes airers are a non-negotiable in my opinion, especially when the temperature drops. To find them on sale at this time of year, just before they're going to be in high demand, is a miracle. While the Ideal Home panel of expert testers have yet to review the Argos heated clothes airers, combined, they both have over 1,500 5-star rave reviews from customers.

If I were to choose which of these bargain Argos heated airers to go for, it would be the 3-tiered version. It is very rare to see one of these versions going for under £100, even Lakeland, which is running a sale on their cult Dry: Soon heated clothes airers, doesn't have any on offer for under £100.

The reason the Argos three-tier version is so affordable is that it has forgone all the bells and whistles, like a timer and different heat settings. However, personally, I don't think you're missing much with these. I've tested three different heated airers over the last 4 years, and while I've found the timer functions helpful, I'd still opt for the cheaper heated airer and spend the extra money on an airer cover, which will speed up the drying time.

If you're looking for something even more budget-friendly to send your kids off to university with or to use as a backup drying space, the Argos Home heated clothes airer with wings might be a better option. I have always found the space that winged airers take up frustrating, but they are a brilliant shape and size for drying bedding. However, bear in mind that they hold less laundry than a tiered option.

Argos' winged heated clothes airer isn't quite the cheapest on the market at the moment. Amazon has beaten it with the Status Heated Clothes Airer, which is currently reduced from £59.99 to £35.55. However, the Argos one has glowing customer reviews, saying it's 'absolutely amazing' for drying clothes.

These covers are a game-changer for drying your clothes faster by trapping the heat inside. Keeping on top of the washing for a family-of-four (including two fashion-conscious teenagers) when the dirty laundry basket seems to fill up daily is a constant challenge. Is it just me or does it always seem to be full of everyone else's dirty clothes rather than my own – how do they get so many clothes dirty so fast?!

I have a small utility room idea (actually, it's not just small, it's tiny!) that's mainly used for laundry, with a stacked tumble dryer and washing machine, plus a handy extra sink. To keep up with the volume of washing, I've needed to employ every space-saving laundry trick in the book, including a few really great products that have genuinely been game-changing.

Top of the list is this drop-down wall-mounted clothes airer from Argos. With minimum floor area and very little worktop space, using vertical solutions like this is a no-brainer.

I picked up a set of magnetic storage shelves and hooks from Amazon a couple of months ago. Stacking the tumble dryer on top of the washing machine is a great way to store appliances in a utility room, and it means I can attach the magnetic shelves to the side of my dryer. I've been seriously impressed at the weight these shelves will hold – I've stored full bottles of washing detergent on them without them moving an inch. They've really exceeded my expectations, and I give this space-saving laundry trick an enthusiastic thumbs up. They turn what would otherwise be dead space into usable storage, meaning I have less stuff cluttering up the limited worktop area.

My most recent buy was a magnetic lint bin from Amazon. I was fed up of having a small pedal bin cluttering up the floor (I kept tripping over it), and so finding another wall-mounted solution was exactly what was required.

If using the magnetic surface isn't an option, it also comes with self-adhesive hooks so that you can fix it to the wall using those instead. Plus, it includes a handy lint brush, so I can easily keep the tumble dryer clean to make sure it's working as efficiently as possible.

The worst of the cold weather is almost behind us, but if you need help powering through till the end of winter Argos is having a sale on some of its most popular heaters.

Argos has slashed the price of many of its best electric heaters by a third including the Challenge 2kW Convector Heater which has racked up 2,763 five-star reviews on the Argos website. The freestanding heater is currently reduced from an already affordable £30 to an even better £19.80.

The heater is simple, featuring just 3 heat settings, but with a heat output of 2kW, and a 1.5m cord length it has everything you would need to heat a small to medium-sized room. It even includes a tip-over protection switch for added security.

However, the heater's simplicity hasn't stopped shoppers from raving about it. Customers have complimented how easy it is to assemble and use. 'Heats up a room fast, best purchase,' wrote one shopper.

Challenge Convector Heater

'We love this heater this is our second one as it fits just right in a small area and works a treat, making the room much warmer and cosy,' commented another.

When our reviewer tested it they pointed out that while it isn't a looker, it is functional, easy to set up and incredibly affordable. The main drawbacks were that it took over 15 minutes to heat a room, and although upfront it is very cost-friendly, this electric heater costs more to run than other heaters. It would cost 54p an hour to run on full power (2000W) for an hour, which is worth bearing in mind before snapping it up.
