Being Ideal Home’s Room Decor Editor, I look at a lot of pretty home-related things on a daily basis, and rugs are very much high on that list. But when I spotted this H&M Home wool tufted rug in the new-in section of the brand’s website, I was instantly smitten.

The last rug design I was obsessed with - and seriously tempted to get for my own home - was the MADE.COM Natural Kosmic Flat Weave Wool Tufted Rug which I spotted at the Next autumn/winter 2025 press preview a couple of months ago and which is now fully sold out across the MADE.com, Next and John Lewis websites. Those tufted stars on an otherwise plain and neutral rug really captivated me.

Not only is this rug design super stylish in its own right - from the colour palette of olive green, off-white, blush pink and black to the 3D-effect trim - but it also reminds me of designer rugs from the likes of Layered and Nordic Knots. It’s also great to see that the rug is made with 100% wool, as many high street retailers usually go for synthetic fibres like polyester. Selling for £299.99, the H&M Home rug might not be the cheapest, but given all of its benefits (like the stylish, designer-looking style and 100% wool composition), it’s very fairly priced and much more affordable compared to similar-looking designs from anywhere like Nordic Knots or Layered.

H&M Home’s Christmas collection just landed online and in selected stores – and let me tell you, it’s a good one. It’s perhaps one of my favourite Christmas ranges I’ve seen this year, at least thus far.

So what’s so special about it? For one thing, I love that it’s an elegant, timeless yet contemporary range that’s not over the top, as many Christmas collections can be. And despite its timeless feel, the collection doesn’t just hit several of the biggest Christmas trends of this year but also many home decor trends that have been dominating the majority of 2025.

I’m a big fan of H&M’s homeware in general, especially the H&M lamps, which I regularly lust over but sadly don’t really have any space for. I love that the brand’s holiday range doesn’t feel separate from the main homeware collection – on the contrary, it’s merely a more festive continuation of the existing range. Brown has been one of the biggest colour trends of 2025, ever since Pantone named Mocha Mousse its colour of the year. And with the likes of Benjamin Moore naming a new brown shade its colour of the year for 2026, brown is not going anywhere anytime soon. So it’s no surprise that H&M has incorporated this chic and cosy colour into its festive range.

And it’s available in many different shades too – from deep chocolate brown as seen on things like this ceramic Christmas tree that looks like it’s made from melting chocolate to a softer brown as seen on this striped ruffled Christmas tree skirt which might just be the prettiest and most stylish tree skirt I’ve seen this year.

As a Room Decor Editor here at Ideal Home and general enthusiast for anything stylish and pretty, I regularly look through new arrivals of various brands and retailers. And one of these regular sweeps recently resulted in me stumbling upon a chic H&M lounge chair, which happens to be the best thing I’ve come across all season.

Selling for £349.99 a pop - which I think is a reasonable price - this beige boucle-upholstered chair that celebrates one of the biggest home decor trends of 2025 (chrome furniture) has already got a handful of reviews to its name – and unsurprisingly, they are largely positive.

Why should you invest in the H&M lounge chair?

I don’t know about you, but I’m currently all about chrome furniture, whether that’s accent chairs or coffee and side tables, both of which I’ve seen plenty of at the John Lewis autumn/winter 2025 collection preview. It’s not entirely surprising though as it’s a major living room trend of this year, inspired by the overarching trend celebrating 1970s-style interiors, as seen on other popular designs like the OMHU Teddy sofa I’ve tried before.

‘Chrome stands out with its cool, futuristic vibe that somehow feels both nostalgic and brand new,’ says Alex Stubbs, Flitch interior stylist. ‘The chrome furniture trend really took off in the 1920s and 30s, thanks to Bauhaus design in Germany. We've waxed lyrical about café kitchens and while we love the bright and inviting look the trend adds to a kitchen, we're making way for a new favourite; the bistro trend. H&M Home just dropped one of my favourite collections they’ve ever released – and I got a first look earlier this week. Available online and in stores from today, H&M’s new 23-piece collection was designed in collaboration with the 5-star hotel in the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean, Palm Heights and its designer, Gabriella Khalil.

The reason why I’ve fallen in love with the new H&M x Palm Heights collection - and why I’m sure you will too - is the highly coveted Soho House style that the range conveys with its summer-ready, high-end hotel-inspired pieces.

Having seen the range IRL now, I’m sure that the six products below will fly off the shelves. So snap them up while you can! And yes, the offering includes plenty of stripes, the pattern of the moment that’s one of the biggest home decor trends of this year.

‘The bathrobes and towels are sure to be popular. But also the games as they are perfect for home and holidays – they capture the fun of a beach resort,’ she says.

What to expect from the rest of the range

The central colour palette is very on trend, consisting of vibrant yellow - is that you True Joy, Dulux’s colour of the year for 2025? - and chocolate brown which makes sense since brown is the colour with the most dramatic rise in popularity this year, also inspired by Pantone naming Mocha Mousse its colour of the year for 2025.

But the shades are actually again inspired by Palm Heights’ design. ‘That is taken directly from the hotel, from the yellow beach umbrellas and other interior elements that contrast with an otherwise neutral-tone, elegant and contemporary environment,’ Evelina at H&M Home says.

The summer season and the activities that come with it were other sources of inspiration as the collection includes the likes of towels that would look super chic at the beach or by the pool, as well as beach tennis bats and a backgammon set which is worth getting even if you can’t play, just for its decorative purposes – and because sets like these are usually quite spenny.

‘We are very excited about the hospitality industry lifestyle, especially at this time of the year when we need a little inspiration for the summer period. Palm Heights really is so unique, and Gabi’s vision was such an original idea. The design is so transporting, so we wanted to encourage people to bring a little of that magic into their home,’ Evelina explains.

Despite being obsessed with hosting and acquiring the most aesthetically pleasing tableware, lettuce and cabbage leaf style crockery has always been a home decor trend I've resisted. That was until I saw H&M Home's collection of designer-look plates.

Maybe it's because I don't have that much kitchen storage for seasonal dinnerware or maybe it's because I've seen it all over my social media feed - I'm not entirely sure, but I do know that I'm prepared to swallow my pride and say I've changed my mind about this trend I didn't like.

H&M Home's collection of leaf stoneware is going to be perfect for hosting this Easter weekend and throughout all of the festivities summer brings, and the prices mean you won't blow your budget kitting your table out.

I recently popped into my local Divertimenti store and was instantly wooed by their huge collection of Bordallo Pinheiro crockery. From leaves to avocados and artichokes, there is such a huge variation that it made me really look at this style of dinnerware differently.

However, with this being significantly out of budget for me, I started looking on the high street for alternatives. I'm forever browsing H&M Home and decided to stop by my local store to get some inspiration for the many hosting opportunities I have coming up as we get into Bank Holiday season.

I was so surprised to see a collection of leaf plates that rival the more expensive Bordallo Pinheiro sets, which will be perfectly placed on a table full of fresh spring dishes.

Unless you have a large kitchen with lots of storage or an equally substantial budget, investing in seasonal crockery might not be top of your agenda. What I love about these leaf plates is that they're not overly seasonal - while the green colour works well for Spring themes, you can use these all year round when hosting or sprucing up a weeknight dinner.

It's safe to say I have expensive taste when it comes to homeware so finding dupes of the brands and styles I love is crucial. I like to keep my crockery set neutral with my Our Place set in white, and this allows me to buy more affordable colourful serving dishes to zhuzh up a tablescape with just one or two new pieces.

Leaf plate alternatives

If you're after expensive-looking bedding on a budget, then H&M is an interior stylist's best-kept secret.

Just like its homeware range, the H&M bedding collection always hits the mark when it comes to reinterpreting designer looks at high-street prices, and – unlike a lot of budget-friendly bedding I've tested which looks good but feels disappointing to the touch – I've always found the brand's on-trend bedding to be great quality too.

This year, bedding trends are all about playful stripes, mix-and-match ginghams, and flouncy ruffles, but H&M has paired those trends with earthy tones and saturated colours that ooze grown-up style. The result is a collection that sums up quiet luxury, without the designer price tag.

If you're wondering where to buy bedding this season, this is it. Without further ado, here's my round-up of the key pieces from H&M's latest collection.

One of the reasons H&M's bedding is such good value is that all of its duvet sets come with two pillowcases included, so you're not just buying the duvet cover, you're getting everything you need for a bedding refresh in one fell swoop.

And, as interiors expert Liv Conlon, founder of The Property Stagers, shares, 'upgrading your bedding is one of the simplest ways to make a bedroom look and feel expensive without spending a fortune.'

Plus, as H&M proves, 'you don’t need to splurge on designer brands,' says Liv. 'Many budget-friendly retailers offer high-quality options that feel just as indulgent.'

Ultimately, expensive-looking bedding is all about how you style it. 'A well-dressed bed creates an instant focal point and sets the tone for a luxurious, welcoming space,' says interior expert Liv.

And the trick to a well-dressed bed is to layer your bed like a designer. 'Opting for a simple, neutral-toned duvet or a textured quilt instantly elevates the look,' shares Liv. H&M's collection is perfect for this, with plenty of cotton, linen, or linen-blend duvet sets in shades that look far more luxe than their price tags suggest.

Then, it's all about layering. 'Once you have your base down, you want to build on this by layering bedding and textiles in natural materials and soft, tonal colours,' share bedding experts Emily and Jonathan Attwood, founders of luxury bedding brand scooms.

'Fold a lightweight coverlet or knit throw across the foot of the bed to add texture and warmth,' advises Liv, and yet again, H&M has nailed this too, with a great collection of textural bedspreads and throws on offer.

Then, if you're anything like me, it's time to go wild with the cushions, and there's no shortage of statement cushion covers at H&M either, with prices starting from just £3.99.

Are you convinced to update your bed linen?

H&M homeware has often flown under my radar, but this week I've realised what a mistake I've been making after a trip to the newly revamped H&M homeware store on Regent Street.

My Editor-in-Chief, Heather Young, was the first to make the pilgrimage to the new refreshed London store and I quickly followed after hearing about the number of designer-look pieces she'd spotted. If you're a fan like me of the mid-century home decor trend, with some extra pattern flourishes then you're going to want to take a look yourself at the Scandinavian stores offerings.

Green was a huge colour trend in the curated dining collections in store, with the speckled ceramic collection making a statement. I loved how this abstract pattern was paired with a traditional floral print for an high-end look, and the best part was that nothing on the table crossed the £20 mark.

I love nothing more than a rummage through a homeware store, and I make it my mission to spot those smaller items that will make everything around them look more expensive. These are the items you don't want to miss at H&M right now.

There are so many other luxe looking pieces to find, H&M is one of the best places to buy bedding so I'm hoping to have more time to peruse their offering of chic looking sheets when I'm next in store.

If there's two things I love it's finding bargains and decorating my home. So this week I took it upon myself to see if I could find everything I need to add top-to-toe festive style to my living room this weekend without going over my very strict £100 budget.

Black Friday home deals are just about everywhere right now, but my eye was drawn straight to H&M Home. With up to 40% off, there are some pretty impressive offers available, and aside from the value what's so great about the brand is the neat balance of trend-led and timeless Scandi sensibilities.

Bear in mind that the sales are only slated to last until midnight on Saturday, so if you want to benefit from top deals make sure you make your choices soon.

With that in mind here's what I picked out....

The H&M Home Christmas buys

Coming in at a grand total of £92.80 (leaving me over £7 left in my spending pot) these nine buys will add instant festive vibes, colour and scent.

If you've yet to decorate for Christmas, it seems that H&M Home has just about everything you need without blowing the budget.

When it comes to decorative items, there’s often not a lot of budget set aside for them. So it helps when you can bag a bargain that looks as elegant and high-end as Aldi’s three-piece vase set for as little as £4.99 – especially as it’s an almost identical dupe for H&M Home’s mini vase set of three that’s more than double the price.

Quiet luxury is a home decor trend that’s still going strong, showing no signs of stopping over a year later since it first came onto the scene. And the Kirkton House Textured Vase Set from Aldi dropping in stores on Thursday 27th June is the perfect way to incorporate the quiet luxury look into your home without an accompanying high price tag.

We’ve been loving lots of H&M Home’s home accessories as of late, from the viral striped H&M tablecloth to the brand’s lemon-shaped tableware that screams Amalficore. And honestly, £12.99 is not bad at all for a set of three mini stoneware vases from H&M Home. But, of course, if we can pay less than half the price, we always will. If we can find the set in one if Aldi’s physical stores come Thursday that is – as with most of Aldi’s products, this one is not available online either.

We can always rely on Aldi and its great, dupe-worthy designs at affordable price points, whether it’s Aldi’s £40 bladeless fan or this vase set, which nails both the unassuming quiet luxury style and the biophilic design trend.

‘The trend of irregularly and unusually shaped vases has been quite prominent in the past year, reflecting a broader move towards more organic and unconventional forms in interior design,’ says Alex Stubbs, Flitch interior stylist. ‘This trend draws inspiration from nature, emphasising the calming and grounding effect of organic forms. It also blurs the line between function and art, allowing for personal expression.’

Whether you go for the Aldi set or the H&M Home one, you’ll be getting three small-sized stoneware vases, each featuring a different silhouette inspired by organic shapes seen in nature. But while the H&M Home version comes only in a cream colourway, the Aldi set is available in three different shades - cream, beige or grey to match your living room colour scheme.

The only other minor difference is the slight difference in height - while the Aldi vases measure 12 centimetres in height, the H&M Home mini vases stand only 10 centimetres tall.

‘People are looking to bring visual interest to previously overlooked areas, such as empty shelves, and using unusually shaped vases is a great way of achieving that,’ Alex concludes. And you will achieve that with either one of these vase sets, that much is guaranteed.

It doesn’t happen every day that at first glance a simple home accessory goes viral and sells out almost immediately after it’s released. But that’s exactly what happened when the H&M Home striped yellow tablecloth starting at only £17.99 dropped earlier this week – and went out of stock instantly. So we looked for an alternative.

But boy, we did not think it would be so hard to find one, especially at an affordable price point. Which perhaps explains exactly why this tablecloth is so popular - there are not many alternatives on the market that would match it. And also because it fits perfectly into the current home decor trend of desti-core, emulating the look and feel of holiday destinations in your own homes.

So hats off to H&M Home for creating a product that’s rather simple yet fills a gaping hole in the market. But what should we do until the restock then? As per the brand’s reply to one of the comments on the Instagram post displaying the beauty of said tablecloth, no restocking date is showing for this product as of yet.

So instead, we’re looking to our hosting guru, Laura Jackson, who once famously revealed to none other than Alexa Chung that you can create a tablecloth and napkins from any fabric of your liking. And as luck would have it, we found the perfect fabric on Etsy that looks identical to the H&M Home deckchair stripe print for just £7.99 per metre.

Alternative to H&M Home’s sellout striped tablecloth

‘Deckchair stripes evoke nostalgia and simplicity, reminiscent of seaside holidays and outdoor leisure,’ says Alex Stubbs, Flitch interior stylist, on the current deckchair stripe trend. ‘Their bold, playful design adds visual interest and vintage charm, fitting well with both minimalist and maximalist trends.’

And Lucy Mather, design expert from Arighi Bianchi, agrees, ‘This connection to comforting, happy memories makes stripes a popular choice. They can energise a space, making it feel lively and dynamic, which is particularly appealing in modern design where there's a desire for vibrant and engaging interiors.’

So all this considered, we’re not surprised people went crazy for the H&M Home striped cotton tablecloth in yellow and white. Not to mention it’s so pretty!

But that is also why we were so happy to find the Yellow & White Stripe Print Cotton Fabric on Etsy for £7.99 per metre which works out even cheaper than the actual tablecloth. And if you don’t like raw hems and don’t own a sewing machine (or the skills for it), then all you need to add to the edges of the fabric is a hemming tape like the £5.99 Klangfeiler Hemming Tape from Amazon.

And while finding the exact same style of the H&M tablecloth on the market is no piece of cake, we did find pieces that emulate the look – even though they come with thinner stripes which are just as fresh-looking, or in different colours or in the form of a table runner rather than a tablecloth.

So do not despair if you missed out on the first drop of the viral tablecloth – there are other ways to get the look for your home long before the restock comes.

The sun is finally starting to peek its head out from behind the clouds, so now is exactly the time to start thinking about how we want our outdoor spaces to look before we get to spending all of our summer evenings out there.

Of course, having the best garden furniture you can find is important. But the thing that really helps to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere within our outside space is garden lighting ideas.

When the sun sets and the evening starts to darken, you don’t necessarily want to have to immediately head inside, which is why candles are the ultimate accompaniment to spring and summer evenings, in our eyes. 

Luckily for those who are keen to accessorise their outdoor spaces on a budget, we’ve just found the perfect candle holder for styling the space at H&M - and it’s an incredible dupe for a candle lantern that's far more expensive at The White Company.

If you’re looking to create a rustic, Italian-inspired feel in your garden or on your balcony this summer (and spring), a jute candle lantern is a stunning accessory to help you achieve this.

These woven accessories not only add a touch of traditional charm to what might otherwise be a slightly empty and uninspiring space, but they also guarantee a charming pop of light and warmth – which will likely be especially welcome as the sun goes down (and the party continues!)

The White Company are currently selling their own version of a jute candle lantern which they explain is crafted by hand and comes with a glass hurricane to pop your tall candle in.

Made with jute, paper and metal, the tightly woven design oozes luxury and would add a serious touch of style and elegance to any outdoor space. However, this comes at a cost, as the candle holder is on sale for £45.

It’s not an extortionate amount, but during the current cost of living crisis, saving every penny we can certainly helps – so we were obviously delighted to find a brilliant dupe for this stylish outdoor accessory at H&M!

H&M are also currently selling a candle holder made of woven seagrass in a stunning beige colour, for a fraction of the cost of The White Company’s. The similarities between the two products are clear to see, with each item exuding seaside glamour with their rustic designs.

However, the H&M candle holder is currently on sale for £21.25, reduced from the original price of £24.99, making it even more of a steal, and less than 50% of the price of The White Company’s product.

H&M's lantern also comes with a glass hurricane in which to safely place your candle, as well as a handle to allow you to transport the candle holder mid-use, or before or prior to lighting your candle, similarly to The White Company’s.

The brand don't strictly say that the lantern is for outdoor use, but it would work brilliantly outdoors on a cool, dry night (though we wouldn't advise leaving either lantern outside in all weathers).

While you might argue that The White Company’s jute candle holder looks slightly more premium, we’d argue that for the chance to save over 50% of its purchase price, the H&M holder looks incredibly similar, and makes for a fantastic dupe!

So will you be picking this H&M piece up to adorn your garden with this spring and summer? With 15% off it’s original price, it may well be wise to pick it up sooner rather than later too, before it sells out...

If there's one thing that we love social media for, it's gaining a secret view into celebrities homes, and seeing exactly what they dish up for dinner. Megan McKenna's latest series of TikToks show her bountiful home-cooked meals, ranging from American-inspired full English breakfasts to roast dinners with all the trimmings. And while the steaming meals have us drooling, so do her dinner plates. 

Finding the best dinnerware to serve up your meals is a bigger feat than you might imagine - you want it to be the right size, shape, weight and obviously, the right look. So when we spotted Megan McKenna's organic-style plates, we knew we had to hunt them down.

Where to buy Megan McKenna's plates

In a turn of events, Megan McKenna has gone from British reality TV star to author of a cookbook titled, 'Can You Make That Gluten-Free?'. And her love of cooking has made its way over to her TikTok channel where she's gracing viewers with elaborate, but homely, meals for her and her partner.  

So once you've bought the cookbook to learn exactly how she makes everything look so drool-worthy, you'll just need the plates to finish off the look. 

The quiet luxury trend is something that we've seen popping up in interiors from living room furnishings all the way through to kitchenware. Neutral-toned plates are a fast way to make your tableware look super expensive, even if they're bought from the high street and even with nifty H&M discount codes.

As well as neutral colour palettes, slightly imperfect, handmade materials are another big trend around the home. These plates have a slightly uneven edge that makes them look contemporary, yet still down-to-earth. Plus, the handmade look means you can lead family and friends to believe that you made them yourself. 

Depending on if you have a white kitchen that will look best accompanied with bright white tableware, or a traditional kitchen that needs warmer tones, there are two tones to complement different aesthetics. 

And if you're looking to update your entire dinnerware collection so that everything matches perfectly, then you'll be pleased to know that there are other pieces to match.

The stoneware bowl is the perfect shape for soup or porridge and has the same asymmetric look that still stacks easily meanwhile the regular stoneware plate will be a great size for lunches. But perhaps our favourite item in the range is the deep stoneware plate which (in our opinion) is perhaps the greatest plate bowl shape we've seen.  

The best plate bowls are essential for pasta dishes, but if you're anything like me, you'll turn to eating every single meal out of them. Something about a bowl just makes everything taste better!
