Now that we finally have the promise of warm weather on the horizon, I’m finally allowing myself to feel excited about summer hosting, and with that, start browsing garden furniture. The latest to catch my eye, and therefore I just had to share with you, is the Habitat Blue and White Stripe Pouffe (£45).

Crafted with a 100% cotton covering, this pouffe is not only a practical seating idea, but will add a little extra flair to your garden furniture set-up. It’s a comfy spot for extra quests or can even be added to your garden sofa to act as a footstool - perfect for sore feet after busy days.

You may have to clean this garden furniture piece regularly, however, due to its cotton material and soft blue and cream colourway. As pretty as this pouffe is, I do imagine it will show the dirt quite quickly, so maybe not the best choice for families with young children and pets.

Rechargeable wall lights are truly having a moment right now. But before them came plug-in wall lights. These were the original electrician-free lighting solution, but they've been largely forgotten about with the explosion of wireless lamps now available. However, after spotting some of Habitat's new plug-in wall lamp options, I think they're due for a resurgence.

For those who'd rather not have the chore of recharging their living room lighting ideas or are looking for a pop of colour on their walls, Habitat has bought plug in wall lights back with a bang, and the Habitat wiggle wall light is the standout star.

The green and gold beauty will be sure to add a striking pop of colour to any wall. I think it's perfect for hallway lighting ideas to illuminate an empty wall. Its wiggle arms are the best part about it, and it's one of the first times I've seen a multi-armed statement plug-in wall light.

Since celebrating its 60th anniversary, Habitat has gone hard on all things colour and playfulness. This lamp is an instant hit of dopamine when you see it and a fun spin on the wavy home decor trend that continues to be big this year.

This statement lamp is a perfect example of why there will always be a home for plug-in wall lights. This lamp, with its two arms, is made to fully illuminate a hallway or living room, a job even the best rechargeable lights at a similar price point of £45 would struggle with.

Both wireless and plug-in styles have their pros and cons. I have plug-in wall lights in my bedroom, above each of my bedside tables. These work well since they're bright enough to read by at night, and used regularly, so I don't have the faff of remembering to recharge them. But, along my staircase, where the lights are largely for decor purposes, I've opted for wireless lamps.

I'm not turning my back on rechargeable wall lights, but sometimes you do just need the ease and brightness of a plug in.

This week, Habitat shared with Ideal Home that the brand’s made-to-order sofa service is being paused until further notice. This means that popular Habitat sofas such as Hendricks and Fenner have been pulled from the site and made unavailable – and it’s not yet known when the situation will be resolved.

Habitat launched its made-to-order sofas last May. As part of the launch, the brand introduced new sofa styles and a number of Habitat's existing bestsellers became made-to-order, such as the aforementioned Hendricks, which used to be included in our guide to best sofas as our pick for the best value sofa. Habitat has paused the made-to-order sofa service because its furniture supplier entered administration this March.

All the affected customers who had placed orders for made-to-order sofas were contacted as soon as Habitat learned of the news. The brand reports that they’ve apologised to the customers, offering a refund alongside a gesture of goodwill.

Fortunately, Habitat also offers a range of ready-made sofas which are still available, and some of them are even more popular than the made-to-order styles. This includes one of our favourite sofas - and the best budget sofa from our guide - which is the bestselling Julien sofa.

Versatile, multipurpose pieces of furniture are a must in any small space, whether it’s indoors or outdoors. And Habitat clearly got the memo as it’s currently selling one of the most clever pieces of garden furniture I’ve seen this season, the Habitat Malta outdoor day bed, available at Argos for £350.

You’re probably wondering what makes this garden day bed so special. What makes this one of the best garden furniture designs? That would be the convertible function. As the product comes as a compact two-seater outdoor sofa, perfect for any small outdoor spaces like a balcony or a tiny garden. But it can easily be transformed into a day bed by pulling out a hidden section from underneath the base frame. It’s so simple yet genius, if you ask me.

Habitat has just reduced selected colourways of its bestselling chair bed to under £160, and it's the lowest price I've ever seen on this popular hosting solution.

As Ideal Home's Sleep Editor, I've tested the best sofa beds and best chair beds on the market, and the Habitat Roma Chair Bed is one I regularly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable hosting solution.

However, to the best of my knowledge, I've never seen it on sale for *quite* such a low price as it is right now.

Habitat does often run twenty per cent discounts on its furniture collections, but right now, there's thirty per cent off selected sizes and colourways of the Roma.

That means the popular Habitat Roma Single Fabric Chairbed in Grey is now reduced from £225 to just £157.50.

To my mind, that's a *fantastic* price for this stylish chair bed, and there's the same discount on the Habitat Roma Single Velvet Fabric Chairbed in Charcoal too. That upholstery option is reduced from £230 to £161.

This said, you'd be forgiven for not realising there's a sale on at Habitat right now.

Instead of slashing the full retail price and displaying the reduced sale price online, the retailer prefers to offer discount codes, so you do need to apply the code FURN30 at checkout to snap up this low price. Still, a little admin is well worth it for an over £60 discount in my book!

I'm also impressed to see both versatile grey colourways tagged with the biggest discounts. There is also twenty per cent off various other colourways of the Roma, such as teal and electric blue, but it's rare for the retailer to reduce its most versatile and easy-to-live-with colourways by this much.

Now admittedly, this chair bed doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some, and it can only sleep one overnight guest at a time, but I think its compact build is the perfect solution for a small bedroom or small living room.

It's also very stylish, and although it's firm – I would say you'll want to add one of the best mattress toppers, such as the Panda Memory Foam Topper, for when it's extended into bed form, and it's a chair to perch on rather than snuggle up on – I think it makes great occasional seating in a home office, spare bedroom, or living area.

And whilst there are similar designs on the market (I've rounded up the alternatives below for comparison), the price of the Habitat Roma is hard to beat at full price, let alone now it's reduced to under £160!

Having weighed up the options, if I were in the market for a chair bed, I'd definitely be snapping up the under £160 Habitat Roma Chair Bed right now. I think that thirty per cent discount makes it a great deal.

Plus, the number of 5-star reviews this chair bed has garnered on the Habitat website speaks for itself. Habitat shoppers seem to love this design, and at this price, who can blame them!

MADE’s Piper table lamp is one of the brand’s bestsellers which regularly sells out – in fact, at the time of writing, it’s currently sold out at John Lewis, one of MADE’s biggest stockists. So imagine my excitement when I came across Habitat’s Blake opal glass table lamp which is the spitting image of MADE’s design – but it’s selling for less than half the price.

While MADE’s Piper lamp is selling for £59 a piece which these days is quite a standard, reasonable price for a table lamp, Habitat’s take on the look is only £28 which is an absolute bargain in my opinion. Especially given the very stylish and intriguing design of both of the lamps which are very much in step with one of this year’s biggest lighting trends.

Interestingly shaped, sculptural lamps and light fixtures are the focus of home decor trends in 2026. And both the MADE Piper lamp and the Habitat Blake hit the brief with the curved metal base and the large opal glass shade which sits atop it. And it’s this unusual shape that makes both of the lamps look much more expensive than they actually are, almost like a high-end designer piece.

Habitat’s Blake lamp only comes in one colourway (at least for now) which is baby blue. But since MADE’s design has been around for longer, it’s available in four different colours – my favourite is the chrome finish, and Very has actually released a budget-friendly alternative for it earlier this year. But it’s not as close as Habitat’s Blake.

And since the MADE table lamp enjoys much popularity, the brand’s also come out with a Piper wall light version and a flush ceiling light, both available at John Lewis.

But if this lamp aesthetic is not quite to your taste - as it is a very particular aesthetic that you’ll either love or hate - I’ve come across a few other great buys in the Habitat table lamp section. These are my top 3 recommendations that have really impressed me.

As the bank holiday is about to begin, I bring with me some very good news. Habitat’s five-star-rated Kamado BBQ is currently on sale, making it cheaper than both Aldi and Lidl right now.

It’s true that while Kamado BBQs are some of the best BBQs you can buy, they can also be the most expensive you can buy. Luckily for us, our favourite high street retailers have taken it upon themselves to make reliable alternatives, and based on their affordability and stellar reviews, it would seem Habitat is doing it best.

Recently, the Lidl egg BBQ and Aldi egg BBQ boasted extremely competitive prices, but with the Habitat Tabletop Kamado BBQ currently on sale, it’s cheaper than both budget supermarkets. Here’s why I think it’s a good choice for your summer barbecues.

Habitat has three Kamado BBQs on sale, however right now, its 16" Ceramic Kamado BBQ is sold out, so if you’re looking for a large BBQ, why not check out B&Q’s Big Orange Egg or even Habitat’s £600 54cm Kamado Charcoal BBQ?

Currently £96, down from £120, Habitat’s Mini Tabletop Kamado Charcoal BBQ is one of the cheapest I’ve seen this year. This is especially true when you consider that a table-top Big Green Egg (which, of course, a lot of high street egg BBQs take inspiration from) costs £925.

Habitat’s bargain tabletop Kamado BBQ is perfect for grilling for four people. Its small size means that you can even take it on the go with you, be that camping or beach trips. This BBQ uses charcoal fuel to smoke, bake, grill or sear with ease. Its statement egg shape and ceramic material ensure enhanced flavour every time.

One thing you need to know about egg BBQs is that they’re favoured by chefs on account of their ability to lock in flavour and moisture to ensure perfectly cooked food that wows your guests every time. If you want to break into the world of Kamado BBQs but don’t want to spend a fortune, I would definitely recommend the Habitat Tabletop BBQ as a starting point.

Last year, I thought I'd found the perfect tray to display my perfumes on at home. Habitat's checked tray priced at £12 was the perfect midcentury style trinket tray that looked so much more expensive than it was....only problem was that it was sold out.

I'd stumbled onto one of the internet's most-lusted-after trays that has sold out seven times since launching in August 2025. However, I'm happy to report it is back in stock, and with checks continuing to be one of the biggest home decor trends for 2026, it's now available in new checkered colours and sizes. But you'll have to act fast as the new designs are selling out fast.

The checked trinket tray was first launched in August 2025 and sold out in two weeks. Since then, it has become one of Habitat's bestsellers. Fans have been desperate for Habitat to launch it in new colourways and sizes, and their pleas have been answered.

The trinket tray is now available as a larger coffee table-sized version for £18. Habitat has also launched a £16 round version and an £18 pink and green coffee table tray, but these have both already proved hugely popular and sold out in days. It is a timeless piece that looks so much more expensive than it is, thanks to the gorgeous warm wood and white resin inlay. It can be styled in many ways. I've spotted it used to hold candles on coffee tables, to keep keys together on a hallway table, and even used as a canapé tray. However, I plan to style it up with my perfume collection to keep them stylishly neat as part of my dressing table ideas.

Habitat hasn't reserved the checkered look to trays either, with this latest launch; they've translated it onto some gorgeous inlaid frames, mirrors and trinket boxes. Here are a few of the other new checked pieces at Habitat you don't want to miss out on.

However, thankfully, plenty more of my favourite shades are both reduced *and* in-stock online.

Now it is worth noting that this chair bed is on the firmer side. In my opinion, it's definitely best used as an accent or occasional chair rather than everyday seating, and you will want to add one of the best mattress toppers for some extra cushioning when you transform it into a bed, but, as several 5-star reviewers on the Habitat website note, it's a great value option for the occasional overnight guest.

'We bought this for when our son comes home for the weekend,' says one happy owner. 'It will be ideal. Ordinary single bedding will fit perfectly. The cobblestone streets of Paris are filled with sources of inspiration – and one of the iconic designs synonymous with the city’s blossoming gardens, the green Paris park chair, is having a major moment right now, going viral on social media. I know that Habitat has some of the best garden furniture out there, selling at great prices on top of that. That’s why I regularly recommend it, whether it’s the new Global rattan garden chair and matching footstool or the bestselling Indu garden bench. And yet, the brand still manages to surprise and impress me with the likes of the Annika garden bistro set which features pretty much the perfect colour match to the Paris park chairs, as well as an almost identical design. And the set of two chairs also comes with a coordinating table as an added bonus.

Existing customers have also been impressed by the Habitat Annika set, with one review saying, ‘I am really pleased with this patio set – it is a fresh shade of green and is the perfect size for my small garden.’

That's why I'm not surprised that Habitat's Ruxley Storage Bed Frame is proving so popular with shoppers. This ingenious bed frame has already garnered multiple 5-star reviews from happy owners, and its clever storage trick is *exactly* the solution I need in my small bedroom.

I think it's a game-changer if your bedroom has limited storage and floor space, and it's all down to one clever detail.

When it comes to where to buy a bed, many retailers offer storage bed frames. However, they tend to come in two main varieties. There's the ottoman bed – where the bed base and mattress lift to reveal a hidden storage space underneath – and divan bed bases that incorporate storage drawers.

Both are great small bedroom storage ideas that turn what's likely one of the largest pieces of furniture in a small bedroom into a multipurpose piece of furniture. (After all, why just sleep on a bed when you can also use it to stash all sorts of clutter out of sight?)

However, in my opinion, both of these storage options do have some downsides.

An ottoman bed is perfect for storing out-of-season clothes or spare bedding that you don't need to access that frequently, but lifting the mattress and bed base can be a little cumbersome, so it's possibly not a process you'd want to go through every day.

In contrast, I've always found a bed base with storage drawers easier to access. The only problem is that most drawers tend to pull out from either side of the bed, and in my small bedroom, there simply isn't enough space to access underbed storage from the side.

What makes the Habitat Ruxley bed frame different is that it features a storage drawer at the *base* of the bed.

Obviously, it depends on your individual bedroom layout, but for me, this means accessing the bed's hidden storage is *much* easier, and it makes this bed a game-changer for my bedroom storage needs.

Plus, unlike many divan bed bases which require a bed valance to cover them up, the Habitat Ruxley is stylish enough to leave uncovered and take centre stage in a bedroom just as it is. That means there's no faffing with the valance to access its storage.

As one 5-star reviewer on the Habitat website says, 'beautiful bed in a lovely neutral colour. Looks so much more expensive than it was! The drawer underneath is great extra storage too.'

Now, admittedly, feng shui experts do warn that there are certain items we shouldn't store under our beds, but they all agree that soft, fabric items can generally get the thumbs up. So I think this end drawer is the perfect place to store spare bedding, towels, or excess clothes that won't fit in a wardrobe.

It's not the only end-opening bed frame on the market, but it is one of the very few storage beds I've come across with this design, and, in keeping with most of Habitat's furniture, at £340 for a double bed frame, I think it's very reasonably priced.

Frills and scalloped edging are having a real moment, and I, for one, am loving it. One of my favourite ways to embrace this trend has been through houseplant pots and vases, and I've just spied Habitat's new scalloped terracotta pot to continue the trend out into my garden.

Last year, I bought a pretty pink scalloped pot to elevate the Birds of Paradise plant in my home office – this one from Dunelm is similar. Later, I added to my collection with Habitat's Milk Glass Red & White Handkerchief Stripe Vase – it is a pretty addition, whether filled with flowers or not.

As the weather starts to improve, thoughts turn to the garden and I can't resist taking my love of frills and scallops out into the garden with Habitat's new terracotta plant pots.

Habitat's new design gives the traditional, timeless terracotta pot a pretty, on-trend makeover by adding a dainty frilled lip. Reminiscent of Anthropologie's best-selling Ada trio, Habitat's pot is a notably cheaper option – especially if you only need one pot rather than three.

Pots are an investment, but the right design can make or break a container garden.

The best outdoor pots should always complement the plants within. However, they should also add structure to the garden and provide interest while the blooms are growing or as they start to fade. Crafted from clay, Habitat's design is frost-resistant – a non-negotiable for British gardens. Of course, winter-proofing garden pots is still essential. I always add a few large stones to the bottom of my pots to help aid drainage and add pot feet – like these from Amazon.

Terracotta pots are some of my favourites for use in the garden, not only are they beautiful – the perfect complement to my cottage-style planting, but they are also practical.

Clay is a porous material, which means excess water can pass through the sides of the pot, as well as the drainage hole (something the Habitat pot already has drilled).

For this reason, terracotta pots are ideal for drought-tolerant plants – such as rosemary, salvias and geraniums – and those that are vulnerable to overwatering. During heatwaves, mulching the pot with moss, bark, or gravel can help the pot retain water.

We all want a bedroom that looks like it's straight out of the pages of a glossy magazine, but, in practice, styling a bed to recreate that hotel-luxe vibe can be trickier than it looks.

However, I've just found a £12 Habitat buy that instantly makes a bed look more expensive. In fact, to my mind, it elevates the look of the whole bedroom in one fell swoop.

It utilises a design trick I swear by in the bedroom – the bolster cushion – and Habitat's Velvet Bolster Cushion does it for a *very* budget-friendly price tag.

During the past five years as Ideal Home's Sleep Editor, I've looked at a lot of well-dressed beds, and I've learnt that one of the key things they tend to have in common, is carefully styled pillows.

Chrome is a huge home decor trend for 2026. Still, I’m a little surprised to see the metal finish make its way into 2026’s bed trends, while cool and modern, chrome is not exactly cosy, and at odds with the cocooning upholstered headboard trend that's still going strong this season.

However, I do agree it has a certain charm, and if you, too, are tempted to bring the chrome trend into your bedroom, this statement piece is a fabulous way to embrace it.

While chrome is accepted as part of sleek kitchen finishes, and even lighting options (I love M&S’s Chrome Colby Lamp), it has been becoming increasingly popular within furniture. This retro trend draws inspiration from the ‘50s space-age era when chrome experienced a huge boom in popularity. Now, seeing a similar resurgence of mid-century styles, chrome is edging its way into our seating and bedroom ideas.

‘At first glance, this bed seems to go against almost every trend we’ve been expecting to see for 2026. It's cool chrome finish and rather sterile, tubular metal curve shape feel a long way from the upholstered, sculptural statement headboards that have dominated bedrooms so far this year,’ says Natalie Evans, founder and CEO of home styling and staging company Little Barn Door.

‘However, with a 1970s decor resurgence firmly on the cards, those softly rounded metal curves may hit exactly the right note for lovers of retro design. In many ways, it also feels reflective of the iconic 1960s and 70s furniture associated with IKEA, where playful modernism and practical, lightweight forms were key.’

If you type ‘Habitat chrome bed’ into your TikTok search bar, you’ll find plenty of unboxing videos from people who adore this bed frame. But you’ll also see lots of comments from people who are less convinced by this design choice.

‘No offence at all, but doesn’t this look like a hospital bed?’ said one.

‘I love chrome, and I kinda love the frame, but it’s also giving hospital vibes, I don’t know 😭’ said another.

It is a marmite trend, but it is also not impossible to make this bed frame look cosy.

'I'm a big fan of the chrome furniture trend, so when I first saw this Habitat bed frame, I thought it was so stylish, so sleek! I'm not surprised it went viral and even sold out at one point, especially given the quite affordable £280 price point. But to avoid making your bedroom look cold and clinical, I'd pair it with warm tones, soft textures and materials to counteract the coolness of the chrome,’ recommends Sara Hesikova, Room Decor Editor at Ideal Home.

Yep, it may be 2026, but as the modern world becomes an increasingly over-stimulating and unpredictable place, Habitat has picked up on a collective hankering for simpler times, and hip 1950's and 1960's styling is back.

The clean-lined Habitat Theo Fabric 3 Seater Clic Clac Sofa Bed, with its simple silhouette, smart buttoned back seating, and dark wood legs, encapsulates the look perfectly, and it's not the only retro-inspired piece in the new Habitat collection that's making an impact.

As Ideal Home's Sleep Editor, I've spent the last five years testing out the best sofa beds on the market, and during that time Habitat has emerged as one of my go-to stores for stylish, practical, and *affordable* sofa bed designs.

Habitat's Kota Three-Seater Sofa Bed has been a bestseller for years thanks to its generous seating and *very* affordable price tag, and the new Theo sofa bed looks to draw inspiration from its build, whilst offering a much cleaner, sharper, and, in my opinion at least, a far higher-end designer appearance.

And the new Theo sofa bed isn't the only 1950's and 1960's inspired furniture Habitat has on offer. The brand also recently launched the Albers furniture collection, which, thanks to its super sleek chrome metal styling, couldn't get more retro if it tried.

Personally, I'm loving this return to the hip vibes of the 1950's and and 60's, and Habitat's affordable price points mean you can invest in some cult classics of the future without breaking the bank.

No matter the changing kitchen trends, one truth remains: kitchen islands are one of the most desirable features you can include in your design. However, if you have a small kitchen or no renovation on the horizon, it can be tricky to find a way to incorporate an island. Luckily, Habitat has the perfect solution with their Leif freestanding solid wood kitchen island.

It's rare that I would say something priced at £500 is good value, but when it comes to kitchen islands, this is a fraction of the cost that a built-in style would set you back. I love the natural oak tone of the wood on this island - it makes it so easy to incorporate into any kitchen colour scheme. Freestanding kitchen islands are an innovative way of adding storage to your kitchen in a way that is stylish and works with your existing design. However, sometimes they can still set you back thousands, particularly if you need a larger style. This Habitat island is ideally priced for a solid piece of furniture without spending budget that could otherwise be put towards a new kitchen renovation.

If you've been contemplating a kitchen renovation but you aren't quite ready to spend big, adding freestanding furniture might be all you need to revamp the layout and upgrade your storage game.

This is the time of year that most brands drop their new collection for the spring/summer season, and it was while scrolling through Habitat’s new-in section that I stumbled upon an absolute gem of a design – the Habitat Harriet Coffee Table and Pouffes.

This is one of the best coffee tables for a small living room I’ve seen in a while, not to mention the perfect guest seating solution. Made from solid wood, the £200 round coffee table comes with three pouffes upholstered in off-white boucle, which slot perfectly underneath the coffee table when not in use.

When you have guests around and need extra seating or simply want to rest your feet on a stool, you can pull out one or all of the pouffes from underneath the table. So ingenious and yet so simple!

In all fairness, this is not the first time I’ve seen a design like this. Last year, a new, Singaporean homeware and furniture brand called Castlery launched in the UK. And as much as I was impressed with the brand’s sofas, I was also won over by the Hugg Square Nest of Coffee Table (shown below).

This coffee table in fact, won the brand a Good Design Award in Japan in 2025. The key differences between the Castlery and the Habitat versions? For one, the Habitat one is a lot more budget-friendly, selling for £200, while the Castlery design is currently on sale for £829, down from £919.

There is a slightly cheaper ‘rectangular’ version, as the brand calls it - I’d say it’s more of an oval shape - for £649, which features only two pouffes rather than four, as well as a side table variation with one pouffe for £359, down from £399.

Secondly, the difference is in size. While the Castlery square coffee table measures 110 centimetres in width and depth, the Habitat Harriet is only 80 centimetres in diameter, as it’s round. That makes it more suitable as a small living room idea than the rather sizeable Castlery Hugg coffee table. But if you have the space, the Hugg does come across as a more premium product.

One of the biggest perks of my job is hearing about all the best new homeware pieces from my colleagues who have spotted them when out at press events, shop visits or by constantly keeping tabs on the 'new in' section. It was through one of my colleagues who has impeccable taste that I learnt about Habitat's new £5 green stripe paper star decoration, which (until now) has sailed under the radar.

One of the best parts of my job is looking through brands’ new collections to spot the next big home decor trends. And I have to say the Habitat Andy Sofa Bed practically leapt off the page.

Striped upholstery isn’t exactly a new trend; it’s been gaining momentum all year, to be precise, but this sofa bed is perhaps the most striking I’ve seen for a while.

Embracing contemporary styling, the bed has sleek arms and angled legs for a cohesive and modern look. Paired with its bold, striped design, it makes for a striking furniture piece - a talking point as much as somewhere to rest.

The bed is multifunctional, with the sofa cushions doubling up as pillows. It folds out to create a single bed, making it a prime choice if you have a small guest room or host individuals more often than couples.

You can even get a free fabric swatch before you commit to this bold pattern. But if you’re keen to embrace patterns in your home, stripes are an excellent choice. While both top-rated beds, I do think the Kota bed’s design is gorgeous, I’d suggest opting for the Andy Sofa Bed if you’re looking for a sofa bed that can also be part of your room decor. It’s eye-catching, striking and most importantly, practical. What’s not to like?

As a Room Decor editor, the job to see, try and assess various Christmas trees falls to me each festive period. And even though I know it’s still somewhat early, September is the time most brands start to drop their Christmas collections, including their Christmas trees.

Habitat is one such brand as the majority of its festive range is available online right now – and that includes its returning tree bestseller, the Habitat Natural Look Upswept Mixed Tip Christmas Tree available in four sizes.

Last year, I tested Habitat’s best artificial Christmas tree in my own home – and considering the affordable price point starting at £90 for the 5ft size ( I tested the 6ft one that’s still budget-friendly, selling for £120). I was seriously impressed by how realistic it looked, despite the fact that I know it’s literally called a ‘natural look’ Christmas tree. I was reminded of this last week at the Habitat Christmas press showcase, which featured the 8-foot-tall version in all its glory.

Even though it’s only September and you’re likely only just getting used to the idea that summer is over and the autumn season has begun, when it comes to Christmas trees you simply have to act fast. Because they sell out very early on after they’re released.

While Habitat’s Christmas tree stock levels tend to be among the best on the market as the brand is generally prepared for the high demand and even this bestselling tree design doesn’t sell out that quickly - unlike The White Company Christmas trees, for example - last week alone, Habitat's Christmas tree sales were already in the hundreds and up by more than 200% year on year.

So best secure yours in your desired size asap to avoid disappointment later in the season as we get closer to Christmas and shopping for trees and decorations turns into the Hunger Games – as even though the style of tree might be available, but the more popular sizes (traditionally the 6ft and 7ft) usually go out of stock first.

It should be said that some of Ideal Home’s other top-rated Christmas trees from The White Company (namely the Pre-Lit Grand Spruce Christmas Tree and the Symons Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree) and John Lewis (the Cotswold Potted Pre-lit Christmas Tree) still look more realistic. However, this is also reflected in their higher price points.

But if you’re after a tree that still looks very realistic, is budget-friendly and not pre-lit, Habitat’s natural look upswept tree would be my top recommendation.

Alternative Habitat Christmas tree picks

Habitat just dropped a brand new Morris & Co collection, and if its first collection was all about natural finishes and muted colourways, this latest drop couldn't be more different.

Habitat has been one of the most successful brands to reimagine the iconic William Morris designs into lust-worthy pieces at a really good price. I picked up the Merton Sunflower Armchair earlier this year for £550, and it is easily one of the most beautiful things in my flat.

I was delighted to see that Habitat had built on hits like the Merton armchair by reimaging it in several brighter colourways, including the beautiful blue Acanthus. It's also launched a new Merton two-seater sofa, which I think is a strong contender for the best sofa I've seen this autumn. However, the new collection isn't just a rehatching of what Habitat did last year; instead, they've given the collection a luxe, maximalist makeover.

'We’ve embraced the radicalism of William Morris and his creative collective for a maximalist vision that adds a little Arts & Crafts disruption to the modern home, while remaining lovingly crafted and committed to heritage excellence,' says Claire Vallis, Morris & Co. Design Director, who worked with Habitat on the collection.

The iconic patterns like Acanthus and Merton Blackthorn have been interpreted in bold, jewel-toned colours. There are plenty of velvet finishes, fringed edges and even gold details; it does have a striking resemblance to how luxury interior brand House of Hackney brought the classic Morris patterns into the 21st century.

However, at £22 for the Habitat x Morris & Co Love is Enough cushion versus well over £100 for a designer one at House of Hackney, it's easy to see why this Habitat collection is a hit.

As well as already owning a piece of the range, I was fortunate enough to see some of the new pieces in person earlier this week. After carefully perusing the designs and prices, this is what I'd buy now or risk missing out on.

I almost missed out on my armchair when the first collection launch because I wrongly assumed it wouldn't sell out that fast. How wrong I was; instead, I had to wait months for it to finally come back into stock to add to my living room seating ideas.

If you spot something you like, my advice is to buy it now, or you could end up waiting months like I did. While Habitat is usually very good at restocking the items its customers love, that is never a given with these special collaborations.

Anthropologie never disappoints with its incredibly stylish furniture offering. The Fern Ash Wood Storage Cabinet is arguably one of Anthropologie’s most well-known and popular designs – and also one of my favourite styles. But given its £2498 price point, it’s not within my budget. That’s why I was so excited to find the Habitat Collins Arched Display Cabinet, a Habitat budget alternative for the Anthropologie arched display cabinet in the brand’s new-in section.

Curves, arches and more organic shapes have been among the biggest home decor trends for the last couple of years – and it’s clear they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. The look of both the Anthropologie and Habitat cabinets comes across as timeless with vintage inspiration, whether that’s midcentury modern or Art Deco, which is set to be a major interior trend for the upcoming season, according to Pinterest.

But the biggest major difference between the two cabinets is the price – as mentioned, the Anthropologie costs nearly £2500, while the Habitat design is only £350 which is more than £2000 difference. How crazy is that?! As I’m typing this, I’m still utterly shocked at that price difference.

Of course, there are other design differences as well. And I’m not alone in my love for the design Anthropologie display cabinet. Of course, there are thousands of fans out there, including the nearly 300 people that actually invested in this spectacular piece of design and have left a review on the site. But even on the Ideal Home team, our Digital Deputy Editor, Rebecca Knight is just as smitten.

‘I've been obsessed with the Anthropologie arched cabinet for years and have been keeping an eye out for a more affordable option,’ she says. ‘Curved cabinets are a great way to add a little architectural interest to a room (especially if you're a renter).

'They work a treat for blending decorative display and storage, especially the versions with hidden drawers or wooden doors on the bottom half. I'm considering investing in one to fill a dead space in my bedroom to make a smart storage feature of my favourite shoes and handbags.'

For one, the Anthropologie display cabinet is available in several colourways - six to be exact - while the Habitat one comes only in the natural oak veneer. Which brings me to the other main difference between the two – the material.

Anthropologie makes its Fern cabinet from solid ash wood. But Habitat’s is made with veneer which is a cheaper material and is partly the reason why Habitat was able to price the cabinet so well.

Though I have the fortunate job of testing cookware for our guides to the best non-stick pans and the best saucepan sets during work hours, I also absolutely love shopping for a bargain when I'm off the clock so I'm already very familiar with this Habitat bestseller.

I bought the (now discontinued) light green version of this pot for my Mum when she moved into a new house last year and after using it regularly since, I can see why it gets rave reviews from shoppers.

Just like a classic Le Creuset dish, this Habitat pot has an enamel coating on the interior which means you don't need to season it before you get started with cooking.

It's also suitable for all hob types and I've found the 3.3 litre version very versatile for everyday cooking – it came in exceptionally handy for many elements of last year's Christmas dinner too.

Le Creuset is not currently selling its iconic Cast Iron Round Casserole in brown, the closest you can get is the burgundy hue Garnet from £209 , so if you've fallen for this shade then this Habitat dish is the way to go.

As Ideal Home’s News Writer, I spend a lot of time leafing through new collections. But as a leopard print enthusiast before all else, when the Habitat Elio Fabric Armchair in Leopard Print landed online, I was obsessed straight away.

Leopard has had an immense comeback over the past few years, to the point where you can’t step foot in a shop without spotting the iconic print. It’s one of the fiercer home decor trends, but one that still works well with neutral palettes, making it a popular choice amongst most styles.

The Habitat leopard print armchair is a beautiful, muted brown print. Coupled with a mid-century design, it’s one of the most stylish pieces I spotted in Habitat’s new collection, but does leopard print have the same longevity as other timeless prints?

Leopard print has certainly had its ebbs and flows when it comes to style and popularity. First spiking in popularity in the 1920s as a print worn by the wealthy, leopard has since been a favourite print of celebrities such as Kate Moss, Jackie Kennedy and Joan Collins. And of course, you couldn’t write an article on Leopard print without mentioning EastEnders’ Kat Slater.

Leopard print has always been seen as a bold, punchy print, but I’d argue it’s also a neutral, which is what makes it so versatile in your home. Leopard print as a neutral is not a new idea; Vogue has already made this statement, as has Shania Twain. But looking at the soft swirls of brown on this striking chair, you’ll be sure to agree.

The Habitat Elio Armchair in Leopard print is crafted from solid oak, stained in a rich brown, while the leopard print itself is a paler brown. Playing into the neutral aesthetic, this chair isn’t too in your face whilst maintaining its visual interest.

It’s wide, with a cushioned back, embracing mid-century design for added comfort. The leopard print is the most recent Elio chair. There are also grey, brown and white colourways all available for £180.

With reviews praising the quality of the chair and commenting on how expensive it looks in person, I’d say £180 is a great deal for an armchair. But before you invest, will leopard print stand the test of time?

Is leopard print timeless?

‘Leopard print has long been a staple in both fashion and interior design, celebrated for its bold, expressive character. Traditionally associated with daring, maximalist spaces, it’s now evolving in response to the growing popularity of minimalist aesthetics. As a result, we’re seeing this classic print take on a softer, more refined look,’ explains Alicia Everett, Designer at Hovia.

For Melanie Whetstone, interior design expert at specialist bed manufacturer Get Laid Beds, leopard print represents more than a print, which is why it has a timeless appeal.

‘Its rich symbolism often reflects the changing societal landscape, particularly about women’s self-expression and empowerment. This is what makes it so powerful in both fashion and interiors,’ she says.

‘In ancient Africa and Asia, as well as when it first appeared in Western culture, leopard fur was seen to represent status, wealth, and power. When the trend moved from fur to print and became more widely affordable, it became associated with the soap characters who adopted it. It thus came to represent female ‘promiscuity’ and was perceived as ‘gaudy’.

‘Today, we are seeing a full-circle moment where it has been proudly and shamelessly re-appropriated by women in fashion and interiors.’

Leopard print can be easily styled, making it an accessible choice, too. It can add a pop of colour to a neutral colour scheme, for example, the Elio Armchair would be well-suited to a cream or beige living room. Or, if you fancy going bolder, pop leopard print can be used alongside rich jewel-colours, greens and gold, creating that retro maximalist look we all love.

I may be a little biased, considering I love this print, but I truly think leopard print will stand the test of time. Do you agree?

'Tis the season where our favourite brands release their autumn collections, and Habitat's new future cult classic Archive Chair (£200 at Habitat) has arrived on the scene to rival the iconic Habitat Scoop Chair.

Habitat has been nailing living room seating ideas for quite some time now, and the Archive chair is the latest arrival that I think will quickly become a cult classic for the brand.

The modular chair, which oozes ‘70s charm, captured my attention from the moment I spotted it online, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. This is why it has ‘future classic’ written all over it.

Modular sofas and chairs have been a defining trend this year, as we’ve seen an emphasis on comfort and cosiness in our homes. Couple this with the low-slung furniture trend, which focuses on seating closer to the floor to create a comforting and grounding space, and you’ve created the Archive Chair.

It has a similar look to Habitat’s iconic Scoop Chair. Originally designed in the 1970s, Habitat re-released the Scoop Chair for its 60th Birthday last year. Its low-slung silhouette and plush cord upholstery ensured it was a classic. It can even be arranged into a sofa by placing two together.

The Scoop chair is gorgeous and has icon status for a reason, but the Archive Chair is a slightly cheaper, bolder alternative. The clue is in the name, but the Archive Chair echoes the same retro design of the scoop chair, a design stolen from the Habitat archives but with a modern spin.

If you’re looking to make a statement, the Habitat Archive Chair should definitely be up for your consideration.

Habitat’s new AW25 collection has landed, and amongst the stylish new homeware I spotted a brand new Morris & Co piece- the Golden Lily Ceramic Table Lamp (£45).

William Morris prints have been everywhere this year, with the heritage brand Morris & Co teaming up with some of our favourite retailers to bring the best home decor trends at an affordable price tag.

Habitat x Morris & Co has frequently impressed me this year, but the new table lamp might be my favourite drop to date.

The Habitat x Morris & Co Golden Lilly Ceramic Lamp is the perfect cosy transition into autumn. Its berry-red base is cosy and inviting, while the Golden Lily printed shade is a beautiful mix of autumnal greens and red, as well as summery blues and yellows.

You may remember the Golden Lily print from the last Habitat x Morris & Co collab, where the Golden Lily Blue Bedding Set (£40) had me in a chokehold. This beautiful print is a reimagining of William Morris’ original Golden Lily design, completed by Habitat and Morris & Co by using intricate florals from the William Morris Archives.

Golden Lily was originally designed in 1899 by Morris & Co’s Head Designer John Henry Dearle, three years after William Morris’ death. Since it’s become a huge staple of British fashion and design, especially after it was popularised in the 60s’ by musicians such as George Harrison and Ossie Clarke, who wore jackets in the famous print. From then on, more fabrics and wallpapers were printed, turning Golden Lily into the modern icon it is today.

Something that the collaboration has nailed every time is striking the balance between capturing the essence of William Morris’ prints while creating a product suitable for every home. In this case, the sculptural base has nailed one of the year’s biggest lighting trends.

Bold, retro styles have been a big deal this year, and the Golden Lily Ceramic Lamp ticks both of those boxes. It has a nostalgic look, something I’d spot at my grandparents' house, but it’s not dated. The patterned, ceramic base is drenched in on-trend cherry red, grounding the bolder pattern of the lampshade.

Much like there are interior trends for the home, there are garden trends that elevate our outdoor spaces. The hottest garden furniture trend of this year is all about vibrant colours. And the two new colourways of the cult favourite Habitat Indu garden bench is the perfect example and proof of this.

Selling for £130 a pop and rated as one of the best garden benches in Ideal Home’s buying guide, Habitat’s Indu bench is one of the brand’s bestselling pieces of garden furniture, originally sold in dark green and black colourways. But this year, the black version was scrapped in favour of the on-trend garden furniture colours – a bright yellow shade and a red Indu bench, with the original green one kept in the offering, too.

When looking for the best garden furniture, Habitat always ranks highly, and this year I’ve loved their take on the colourful garden furniture trend and retro style.

So when scrolling through the summer sale, I was thrilled to spot the inclusion of the Lucinda set. With a striking curved design and pretty pastel colourway, it’s never been easier to make a statement - and right now you can get the entire set for under £100.

Last year, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the funky and affordable garden set, so I was thrilled to see it return (and in the sale) this year.
