Danish craft meets Spanish style at Aram Store

Luxe living is assured with Børge Mogensen's classic armchair

Iconic pieces of furniture never date – they only get better looking over time.

Little wonder then, that the team here at Livingetc has been struck by the re-emergence of the work of Danish designer Børge Mogensen, in particular his Spanish Chair from 1958.

Manufactured by Fredericia, the leather and oak design was inspired by Mogensen’s visits to Andalucia in Spain, where he saw traditional seating heavily influenced by the Islamic culture that had dominated the region for centuries.

Stripped of its over-elaborate carving, Mogensen’s Spanish Chair is pared-back, but perfect – a modernist interpretation offering comfort, craft and cool good looks.

Now available at Aram Store, it comes in either an untreated oak version, or in a clear lacquer, with an option of black or natural leather. Prices start at £2,712.

Whichever model you choose, the Spanish Chair will age beautifully to add character to any space.
