  • Livingetc picks out the hottest talent from this year's MAISON&OBJET show in Paris

As usual, Livingetc‘s Style team returned from this year’s MAISON&OBJET furniture show in Paris having spotted a host of innovative designs and products.

So – for the next few weeks – we’ll highlight the work of individual designers, companies or collectives and select the furniture and accessories that we think will be the must-have pieces of the future.

First up is Julian Appelius, whose work can be found at innovative German design company Pulpo.

True to his Franco/German roots, Julian’s designs combine Gallic flair with Teutonic style.

His Les Brunis chair is a perfect example, taking a standard stacking model and adding a contemporary twist with its attached shelf.

We also adore Appelius’s High Topple bookcase – a shelving unit that tips in one direction when books are placed on it.

The Big Trio coffee table plays with height and scale as well. According to Julian, ‘its three staggered levels are reminiscent of the classic milking stool’.

Already available at UK outlet Adventures in Furniture, the powder-coated steel Trio is priced at a very reasonable £635.

Hopefully, Julian’s other designs will make an appearance in stores around the country soon. And maybe – one day – they’ll be included here, with our other design classics.
