Get sofa savvy

  • What makes the nation tick when it comes to choosing a sofa for the heart of our homes?

    Down time

According to resarch undertaken by Sofaworks, 46% of us feel most chilled out when on the sofa. Choosing the right sofa is a key factor in creating a relaxing living room to unwind in after a hard day’s work, so be sure to choose a design that will really make you feel at home. Comfort is key when it comes to relaxation, so be sure to test out several designs in store, or read reviews online, to make sure you’re happy with the shape and finish of the sofa.

    Purr-fect choice

Animal-loving Midlanders are most likely to spend time on their sofa with pets, according to the survey. If you like to snuggle up with a furry friend, choose a fabric that won’t show up animal hairs or that can be easily cleaned. Consider opting for a modular sofa with an addditional segment for a pet to curl up on if space is an issue.

    Size matters

According to the Sofaworks survey, Londoners are the most squeezed for space (no surprises there!). Make the most of limited space and shop smart; sofa beds are perfect for one bedroom flats needing to accommodate overnight guests, or choose a design with built-in storage to help keep clutter at bay.

    Colour pop

When it comes to the aesthetics of a new sofa, Sofaworks found that 36% of us look for a design that matches our existing furniture, whilst 19% stick to a neutral shade. Add pops of colour and pattern to a neutral sofa with scatter cushions or a colourful throw to lift your look and add instant style. Ask to see fabric swatches of several different colours before buying, so you can place them in your room and see which works best with your scheme.
