  • Long a design staple, Livingetc loves Rume's new breed of button-back sofas

Truly, madly, deeply… there’s nothing quite like sinking back into the comforting embrace of a luxuriously upholstered sofa.

So, lounge lovers that we are, it’s little wonder that the crew here at Livingetc was rather impressed to discover the new range of classic seating at English furniture specialist Rume.

Designed by Richard Paul Baker, who along with his wife Libby founded the company ten years ago, and crafted using time-honoured techniques, the sofas will suit any space, whether traditional or contemporary.

To whet your appetite, we’ve chosen three pieces from Rume’s new Chesterfield Collection.

First up is Pelham. With its long turned legs, flatter-rolled top and optional contrast piping, the piece is as gorgeous as a compact sofa gets. Priced from £2,953 (plus 12m of fabric), we think it’s ideal for a hallway, study area or bedroom.

Next we’ve gone for the flamboyant Smithfield. Shown here in eye-catching Orange cotton velvet, but available in a host of other fabric and leather options, the three-seater design costs from £3,836 (plus 15m of fabric).

Our final lust-have is the gorgeous Havelock. With its full beech frame and quilted cushions, this 3.5-seater has a refined, seductive look, fit to grace any setting. It’s priced from £4,057 (plus 19m of fabric).
