What do you do when you've got millions of pounds burning a hole in your pocket? Buy a hotel, of course! Olympic tennis champion Andy Murray is the proud new owner of Cromlix House near Dunblane in Perthshire
He’s the reigning US Open and Olympic Singles Champion, currently ranked number 3 in the world, and off the tennis courts has a beautiful girlfriend in Kim Sears… what more could 25-year-old tennis ace Andy Murray wish for?
Well actually, a hotel.
Tennis champ Andy has just bagged himself a luxurious Victorian pile near to his hometown of Dunblane in Perthshire.
Former hotel Cromlix House is situated in beautiful countryside, five miles from Dunblane – and Andy plans to re-establish the Victorian property as a luxury 15-room, five-star hotel.
The brooding Scot’s new venture will bring a smile to the faces of
locals, too, as the regeneration of the hotel will create around 40 new
jobs and attract tourists to the area.
Cromlix as a leading luxury hotel at the heart of the Dunblane
community, we’ll be able to attract new visitors to the area, create a
number of new jobs and focus on supporting local businesses,’ says Andy.
‘I’m pleased to be able to give something back to the community I
grew up in.’
The renovated hotel will have a restaurant run by Michelin-starred chef Albert Roux and will be looked after by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), so punters are unlikely to see the tennis champ getting his hands dirty!
‘I’m confident that we can create a very special hotel in Andy’s home community,’ says managing director Norbert Lieder.
And Cromlix House is bound to have a place in the heart of
Andy’s family, as it was the venue for his older brother Jamie’s wedding
in 2010, when Andy was best man.
Ahhh, what a gent!
