  • PJs at the ready - it's time for breakfast in bed, Swedish style

    Ikea fans, rejoice!

You can, of course, already spend an entire day out at the Swedish superstore – lunch, collecting those ridiculous (if not a little addictive) paper rulers, obligatory argument in soft furnishings – but now you can actually start your day at Ikea. In bed.

Yes, thanks to a trendy new pop up restaurant in Shoreditch, east London, you can enjoy delicious Swedish fare in a comfy Ikea bed – while in your PJs.

During the sessions put on by everyone’s favourite Scandinavian store, sleep experts will be on hand to give you advice on the perfect night’s kip, before you climb into your chosen bed, rest your tired head on your pillow of choice and tuck into tea, toast and Scandinavian treats.

And don’t panic, you’re not required to flex your muscles (and patience) and assemble a Billy Bookcase in order to get your brekkie – it’s all completely free!

Although, sadly, the famous Swedish meatballs adored in Ikea canteens the country over are not on the breakfast menu. Lunch in bed next time, please.

The nice people at Ikea have launched the pop up to celebrate the joy of breakfast in bed – something that 50 per cent of Brits have never experienced, according to a depressing new survey.

If you’re one of those poor souls, what are you waiting for? The pop up is free to enjoy between 7am and 3pm until tomorrow (Wednesday, 20 May) at Blackall Studios, 73a Leonard Street, EC2A 4QS.

To book your bed and style of pillow from the ‘Pillow Menu’, please email IKEAbreakfastinbed@hopeandglorypr.com with your preferred time of arrival on the hour, every hour between 7am and 2pm.

*Stifles a sleepy yawn at the very thought…
