Take a tour of Sir Patrick Stewart’s Yorkshire Dales holiday home

Sir Patrick Stewart may be a Hollywood star, but his holidays are spent a world away from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.

The Star Trek actor has owned a Grade II listed, isolated property worth £535,000 in the Yorkshire Dales National Park for 25 years. The house was recently put on the market, and although it has already been snapped up by a new lucky owner, we couldn't resist a look around.

Situated half a mile up an unmarked track, the stone property, known as Scar Top House, was built in the 1680s and is surrounded by the iconic rural landscape of the Yorkshire dales - known for its green pastures and dry-stone walls.

Sir Patrick told The Yorkshire Post that the idea of buying the property came to him at the height of his fame as he was driving down a hectic LA motorway. Not wanting to loose himself to Hollywood, he bought the house as a retreat.

And we can see why.

The house consists of three reception rooms, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. And as if that wasn't enough space, it also comes with a double garage and workshop.

And it appears to be just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. There is a rustic feel to it, with quarry tiled floors and exposed beams throughout the house. Other features include mullioned and chamfered windows, some with window seats, and an impressive inglenook fireplace with cooking recesses.

A large paved garden area is perfect for alfresco dining in the summer.

But if the thought of being totally cut-off from the rest of the world is daunting, fear not, for the picturesque village of Wharfedale is only a mile away, with neighboring towns nearby.
