Ikea launches app to help you design your ideal kitchen

Ikea's new virtual reality app allows you to design your ideal kitchen

We're all guilty of having eyes bigger than our tummies and interior dreams bigger than our square footage - no that 20-seater dining table will not fit in your pokey studio flat.

But now, with the help of Ikea's new virtual app, named Ikea VR Experience, you can design your ideal kitchen from your phone.
It's a bit like Sims for adults.

The virtual reality app is designed to enhance the customer's interactive experience whilst or before they hit the store.

The app allows customers to design, kit and customise three different kitchen spaces and experiment with fashions you like. Try black marble, checkerboard tiles and fancy gadgets with fashionable grey metro tiles...
sorry, I'm getting carried away.

The pilot app is designed to help consumers arrange their ideal kitchen and see how things will look and work from different perspectives before it is fitted.

The beauty of this app is the ability to be your own interior designer and not the subject of a kitchen fitter's ideals.

Virtual reality is set to be a game changer in shopping over the next few years.

Before you know it we will be trying out hair colours before we've visited the hairdresser, worn shirts that we haven't even touched yet and parked cars that still haven't been manufacturered.

Ikea's managing director, Jesper Brodin, notes: "Someday it could be used to enable customers to try out a variety of home furnishing solutions before buying them."

So get testing, designing and playing!
