Craft corner: How to make a curtain tie back using salt dough
We show you step by step on how to make a button-themed curtain tie back out of salt dough.
Salt dough is a great homemade craft material. You can use it to create pretty tags, bowls and a whole host of other great makes. In this episode of Craft Corner we show you how to create a button-themed curtain tie-back made from salt dough.
Step 1: To make the dough mix 2 cups of flour with 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of water by hand or with a Kitchen Aid.
Step 2: Wrap the made dough in clingfilm and rest of 40 mins.
Step 3: Dust flour on to a sheet of greaseproof paper.
Step 4: Take 4 sections and roll into different sized balls
Step 5: Roll out the large ball and make an impression using cut glass and use a cookie cutter to cut out
Step 6: Roll out the next ball and use a cookie cutter to make a shape
Step 7: Roll out the next ball, make an impression and cut with a small cookie cutter.
Step 8: Using a straw or skewer make a hole in the smallest ball and in each of the other shapes
Step 9: Bake in the oven at 110 degrees for 4-5 hours until completely dry
Step 10: Thread through ribbon with a hairclip
