Ideal Home's Complete Guide to Christmas: Festive Place Mats

Heather Young shows you how to make bespoke Christmas place mats using temporary tattoos

Hi, I’m Heather and today we’re going to give these placemats a glam makeover for Christmas using temporary tattoos.

For this make you’re going to need:

- Some temporary tattoos
- Some scissors
- Cork mats
- Some water
- A sponge or a cloth

The first thing you need to do is choose which tattoo you’re going to use. Cut them to size. Remove the plastic film from the front of the tattoo then position the tattoo on your mat.

Take your sponge or cloth, dip it in your water them pop it onto the back of your tattoo. Completely soak the back then test to see if it’s ready by lifting one end and seeing if the tattoo has adhered to the board. If it has, then peel off the rest. Do the same with the second tattoo.

Once it’s dried it gives a really durable surface so these will last way past Christmas and will add a really glam edge to your table.

What’s really nice about it is that you get these temporary tattoos in all sorts of designs.
