Don’t have the budget for a four-poster or that wallpaper you’ve had your eye on for the best part of a year? Fear not! We’ve got 9 great ideas to help you make the most of what you’ve already got and add an extra bit of pizzazz while you’re at it…

Luscious lighting

For a quick and easy transformation, swap out dull lamp shades for something fabulous. If you’ve got the space, go for a large statement light in the middle of the room. If not, bedside lamps and fairy lights can create a charming ambience.

A headboard can completely transform a room and can be a relatively cheap investment that will last for years. Can’t find one you love? Buy a plain one and have it upholstered in a fabulous fabric.

Is the beige the only colour in your bedroom? Give your space a colour injection to add vibrancy and character. Unsure about painting the walls a bold shade? Soft furnishings are a great (and affordable way) to bring in some different tones – try a bright rug and some scatter cushions for starters.
