Michelin star moggies: new pet food made from lobster and Beluga caviar sells out in an hour as fancy felines lap it up

Celebrity chef Simon Rimmer's new limited edition cat food, created by More Than Pet Insurance to raise money for the RSPCA, sold out within an hour of going on sale

The world's most luxurious cat food, created by celebrity chef and restaurateur Simon Rimmer, has sold out - just 50 minutes after going on sale in London's Covent Garden.

Designed for seriously pampered moggies, the new cat food is made from roasted duck, lobster sushi roll and Beluga caviar and costs a whopping £24.99 per portion.

Moggie-loving chef Rimmer, who appears on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch show, consulted leading vet Joe Inglis to make sure the food was highly nutritious for taste-conscious tabbies.

However, Simon's toughest critic was his own pet puss Baggy, who tested out tonnes of replica dishes before giving the paw's up to Simon's best-selling recipe, know as 'Chat Délices'.

More Than Pet Insurance has already suggested that, based on its
phenomenal success, they are considering making another batch of the gourmet nosh, which
was sold exclusively at the IceTank kitchen in London's Covent Garden.

Each dish was individually prepared by Simon and packaged in luxury cat-themed boxes before being sold on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds were then donated to the RSPCA.

‘I'm used to creating recipes that will please a human palate,’ says Simon, ‘and, despite being a cat owner myself, the first-ever fine dining dish for cats was uncharted territory for me. However, by working closely with animal experts we've created a dish that is not only good for cats, but a once-in-nine-lifetimes food experience for them!’

However the pet pampering doesn't have to stop at cat food. Earlier this year we reported on the LitterKwitter - the first cat potty training system. And then there was the owner who designed a dog house that was an exact replica of his family home.

But what about treating your fluffy friend to the world's most expensive cat flap?

Created by Hertfordshire-based company Doors4Paws back in 2009, the Swarovski crystal encrusted cat door is worth a staggering £1,000 and is one of the most expensive and luxurious accessories for cats in the world. Phew!
