Farrow & Ball launches new colour range

Spring is a time of subtle change and master paint and paper craftsmen Farrow & Ball, who are celebrating their seventieth anniversary, have updated their palette with nine beautiful new colours that embrace the spirit of the season.

With every colour having its own distinctive history, Farrow & Ball's gorgeous new hues include sophisticated neutrals, restful pastels and rich dark tones with a modern, timeless feel. They replace nine existing shades, keeping the company ‘s palette to 132 carefully chosen colours, which are all made in Dorset using high levels of rich pigments and traditional recipes.

Neutral and muted tones dominate the new range, which features the chic grey Worsted, the elegant Drop Cloth, inspired by the indispensable painter's dust sheet, and Shadow White - a light, coloured white that's perfect for both walls and woodwork.

Sitting squarely between neutrals and pastels, the intriguingly named Cromarty recalls the mist rising from the sea and brings a fresh note to any interior. Peignoir is also a soft, muted hue, a romantic, blushing pink with hints of grey, reminiscent of the chiffon gowns in which ladies brushed their hair in Edwardian boudoirs.

For those who prefer stronger, more defined tones, Yeabridge Green is a lush, clean green that Farrow & Ball discovered in the kitchen of a Georgian farmhouse in Somerset while Vardo is a rich, head-turning teal inspired by Romany wagons. It works beautifully against reds and dark greys.

Inchyra Blue, an understated blue grey found at the classic Georgian Inchyra House in Perthshire, echoes the hues of the temperamental Scottish sky and adds a touch of grandeur and elegance to your rooms. For a darker note, Salon Drab is a rich 19th-century chocolate that beautifully complements yellow and red-based neutrals.
