Amanda Jones is the passionate slow interiors advocate behind the successful Instagram account Small Sustainable Steps. With over 30,000 followers, it's here she documents her way to live and decorate your home that is all about sustainability at its core.
'After several years of facing my own overwhelming clutter, looking at the waste I was producing, I vowed to be more conscious in my consumption,' Amanda says.
'Interior design can be very addictive, and the industry itself can encourage overconsumption, especially if you feel compelled to keep up with the ever changing trends,' she continues. 'It doesn’t have to be this way. I believe that we can all create beautiful homes, that express who we are, but that are mindful of the impact we make on our planet.'
She has been using her platform to encourage people to take a step back. 'Slow interiors means stepping off the trend treadmill, it’s about slowing things down, and pressing the pause button,' Amanda says. 'Finding out who you really are, what you and your family really need. You’ll waste less time, less money, and ultimately reduce what you send to landfill.'
