About me
I am a freelance magazine journalist based in the beautiful county of Yorkshire. I have written for newspapers and magazines since leaving school in Lincoln at 17, and for the past 20 years I have freelanced for national magazines, specialising in homes, interiors and self-builds.

My work takes me all over the UK and abroad and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the owners of some truly amazing houses, from inspirational townhouses and tiny cottages to mansions, manor houses and futuristic architect-designed homes. I never tire of seeing how people live, learning about the things that inspire them or discovering new ideas that transform ordinary houses into stunning homes.
Some of the most inspirational have been the smallest of places, done up on a shoestring with imagination and flair, but each and every home tells its own extraordinary story. When I am not writing for magazines I am following my other passion as a professional artist.

My Ideal Home
When I first started featuring houses I would come home feeling overwhelmed by the variety of styles and designs that I wanted to include in our own place. Eventually we realised that we couldn't include everything under one roof, nor could we keep up with changing trends, so we decided that the only style for us was one which evolved naturally, included elements of everything we really liked and which was personal to us.

As a result, the house we built 20 years ago and later extended is light, open and spacious, with a modern living-kitchen, lots of colourful layers, revamped furniture and original paintings.
