Brighton house

Dining area
This open-plan basement serves as a kitchen-diner and family space. The bold artwork is an advertising campaign, available as a poster from KnollStudio. The Florence Knoll sideboard is from Skandium. The Saarinen table and Tulip chairs are from The Lollipop Shoppe.

Kitchen
The owners stripped out two bedrooms and a bathroom in the basement, then knocked through to create a kitchen-diner and utility room. The Bertoia bar stool, Stelton vacuum jug and George Nelson clock all came from The Lollipop Shoppe.

Living room
These bold pieces of classic furniture, like the beautiful green Bertoia chair, anchor the room and are complemented by understated floors and shelving. The owner painted the walls a subtle colour up to the picture rail, then used white above the rail and on the ceiling. Team White Pepper and Snow White from The Paint & Paper Library for a similar look.

Living room corner
The formal raised-ground-floor living room features wooden floors, elegant fireplaces and a smattering of exquisite Saarinen and Bertoia classic chairs in jewel-bright shades. Find this Saarinen Womb chair at Skandium. The lamp is the Tizio by Richard Sapper for Artimede at Geoffrey Drayton.

Fireplace corner
The clean, fuss-free space downstairs space features a mixture of bright tones and Victorian elegance.

Staircase
Despite its fiercely modern touches and to-die-for collectable pieces, the owners have managed to create a family space that's hugely practical. The sofa is a Florence Knoll from Skandium

Bedroom
The bedroom is cool, calm and relatively clinical. Find similar white bedlinen at The White Company. Halo Living sells soft throws like this.

Bathroom
The owners replaced the original second-floor bathroom with an en suite. The Paris bath is from The Water Monopoly. The Saarinen side table is from Skandium
