Head for heights: The world’s plushest treehouse goes on sale for a cool £700,000, but there’s one catch – it’s built on the ground!

Live out your childhood fantasy by bagging yourself a treehouse built around five ancient oak trees in Dorset

Always wanted your own treehouse? Well now you can branch out (get it?) and swap your surburban semi for your very own house in the woods. It’ll cost you though, it’s on the market for £700,000!

The modern treehouse development is called The Lodge. It’s made up of three timber cabins built around ancient oak trees in the woods of Dorset.

The three wooden pods may be jaw droppingly impressive, but there’s one snag – they’re built at ground level.

Ok, so maybe The Lodge is not technically a treehouse, but it has been designed to fit into the dense forest near Beaminster in Dorset.

Plus, the stunning log cabin features a beautiful veranda constructed around enormous trees that measure around 60ft tall.

The plush property has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a dressing room, and an open-plan kitchen, diner, and sitting room.

Each pod has
integral stainless steel gutters which water the trees and the house has
an air source heating unit with under floor heating throughout.

There’s even double glazed curved glass, which means you can enjoy superb views over the Dorset countryside beyond.

And if you’re a nature lover you can also enjoy the special wildlife area created next to the rear of the property, designed to attract birds and squirrels.

Tim Simmons, of estate agents Chesterton Humberts, said: “It took a
while to get planning permission as the trees, which are around 500
years old and have a lifespan of around 900 years, are under
preservation orders”.
