6 great style take-aways from this industrial luxe home
Inspiring ideas to steal from this edgy LA home
1 Dine in style
If, like the owners you love to entertain, splashing out on an oversized table will provide a wow statement, as well as hours of fun. ‘Our 30ft vintage Balinese table is one of the few things that has followed us everywhere,' they say. Infact, we designed this whole section of the house around it.'
2 Put the kitchen on show
A place for onlookers to sit and chat while the owners prepare food was crucial in this home. ‘It means guests feel included and it makes for a relaxed atmosphere. The couple went for luxe marble for the work surfaces and mixed it up with edgy steel and industrial lighting.
3 Raise the ceiling
The owners removed the oppressive low ceilings and replaced them with tongue-and-groove. The intention was to create space, but also to keep the atmosphere of the area welcoming by choosing wood over plaster.
4 Make the bedroom inviting
Comfort and practicality go hand in hand in this spacious bedroom. ‘Although we tend to function on a million miles an hour, being able to relax is important too,' say the owners. ‘This area had to feel welcoming with calm colours and luxurious textures.
5 Separate the ensuite
The owners have cleverly secluded the bath and shower area from view of the bedroom with this free-standing hand basin and shelving unit, custom-made in walnut wood.
6 Mix it up in the bathroom
A bold mix of graphic tiles, striking glass and warm woods combine to make the bathroom an outstanding feature. ‘It's a great place to wake up to in the mornings,' say the owners.
