  • Housetohome’s Shopping Editor, Tamara headed to the New Designers Show 2016 to discover Britain’s best up and coming design talent.

We are excited to be back here in London to meet this year’s graduates to see their imaginative new work.

    Rhianna Parker-Yates
    Falmouth University

‘I am inspired by hand-woven textile designs and the slow process of hand-knotting, composition and colour. My designs were originally used for coat and trousers while at university because students were my target market. I think they can now translate into other disciplines as well.’

    Danielle Flowers
    Cardiff Metropolitan University

‘I produce decorative home interior artefacts and contemporary crafts. They are all wood-turned using a sustainable design process in which my by-products inform my next process. The ceramic is then flame-fired and ash is used within the glass. I also make jewellery with all my by-products so none of the wood goes to waste.’

Winner of the W’innovate Wilko Award 2016
    Chelsea Imlack
    Staffordshire University

‘I never quite knew what I was going to get by mixing paint with marbling, but when they were all combined I found a natural way to unite the flowers with the marbling effect’

    Sophie Thorne
    Loughborough University

‘I am very inspired by nature and the natural world. I started watching the David Attenborough Africa series and realised that I wanted to do something on the Congo. I looked at the exotic animals and plants from this very region, which inspired by collection of furnishing fabrics and wallpapers.’
