7 dogs with country style
From snoozing style setters to win-over working dogs, many a chic country pooch has graced the pages of Country Homes & Interiors over the years. Here are just a few of our favourites…
Pet Pug, Mabel, likes her home to feel cosy and comfortable with plenty of personality. Luckily, owner Sarah Mead of the Yeo Valley Organic Garden and Tea Room shares her style, and their beautiful farm in the Mendip Hills is full of eclectic finds. In her spare time, Mabel soaks up scenic views from her favourite armchair.
Wirehaired Daschunds, Oscar and George, reside in a stunning Georgian house in Clifton, a quaint little ‘village' in the heart of Bristol. They are the beloved pets of fabric designer Emily Bond, and are the inspiration behind her quirky sausage dog print. Long walks through the Somerset countryside often leave them in need of an afternoon snooze in their oh-so-stylish sleeping quarters (red daschund pet bed, from £60, Emily Bond).
Cocker Spaniel, Floss, lives in a beautiful tumbledown farm on the Surrey/Hampshire border with her owners Emma and Tim of The Little Grey Sheep. She loves exploring the beautiful bluebell woodland that surround her home and can often be found chin wagging with the flock of Gotland and Stein Fine Wool sheep that graze there.
Moby, the Terrier is top dog amongst his friends due to his excellent taste in ‘walkies' accessories. His owner, Angela, is one half of country business Hope and Benson; she makes beautiful tweed handbags, purses, throws and more from a converted milking parlour adjacent to her home in rural County Leitrim, Ireland.
Working Cocker Spaniel, Streuth, spends most of his time in the garden of the Grade-II listed cottage he shares with owners Nicki and Paul. His earnest expression wins him many a treat from friends and family, he's too sweet to resist - and he knows it!
The Stylish Dog Company is Samuel's shop of choice when it comes to knitted jumpers - this navy houndstooth design screams country chic. Having perfected his poses he now earns a living as a part-time model - he owns the room in this shot, don't you think?
After many evenings spent fighting for sofa space from their Labrador, Dusty, owners Geraldine and Simon Moores decided enough was enough. Nowadays he can be found relaxing on his stylish built-in pet bed, complete with cute dog print fabric.
