Vibrant orange cabinetry creates a striking visual impact, while soft maple units remain sympathetic to the property’s farmhouse features. Pale walls allow the furniture to take centre stage in this contemporary kitchen.

Practical layout

Peninsula
To echo the curves of the central workstation below, a dropped ceiling creates a unique design feature. Functional as well as stylish, it houses spotlights, which create ambient mood lighting in the evening. It also conceals an extractor hood for whisking away cooking odours. A chic glass splashback protects the wall from cooking mess. Bar stools allow guests to perch at the peninsula to enjoy informal meals.

Worksurfaces

Cabinetry
This unconventional kitchen works perfectly from a functional point of view. Two built-in ovens are located close to the worktop, which is ideal when transferring hot pans. At one end of the run, an existing cupboard has been faced with maple to match.

Worktop
A subtle orange stripe highlights the curve of the vast peninsula and contrasts with the rich, dark shade of the worktop. The maple adds a natural element to the design.

Pan drawer
To avoid the scheme feeling cramped, deep drawer were fitted instead of wall units to provide essential storage space for pots and pans.

Seating area
A curved bench made from the same materials as the cabinetry provides a spot of informal seating. Orange cushions make the room feel warm and welcoming.
