The couple have kept the shell of the space simple so the focus is on the furnishings, antique lights and mirror.

Modern romance living room

This living room has an area for lounging in front of the TV (tucked in an alcove to the right of the mirror) that’s perfect for DVD nights in, but there are also nooks for all the family, and the modular sofa is ideal for sitting together and chatting. The couple have kept the shell of the space simple so the focus is on the furnishings, antique lights and mirror.

This inviting living room area is perfect for chilling out at the end of the day. The sofa and chairs are upholstered in silky velvet fabric, so they’re extra comfy. Style isn’t sacrificed for comfort, though, with luxe furnishings used to soften the industrial vibe of the reclaimed printing press shelving and table.

Get the Look: The sofa and chairs are from Liberty. The cushion is from The Rug Company and the pendant light is available at Icône. The shelving unit is from Retrouvius.

Large white and wood kitchen

This kitchen is designed to accommodate a large family who like to entertain, with plenty of storage and work space. The couple have used old science lab tables as low-level kitchen work surfaces – complete with Bunsen burner holes and graffiti scrawl. A walk-in storage unit next to the kitchen stores larger items, such as the washing machine and fridge.

For the lady of the house’s home office, they have created a wall of personal treasures that is a work of art in itself, and adds a feminine touch to the scheme. It includes framed pictures of the children’s feet, her wedding day, and drawings and art by her husband.

Eclectic home office

This home office has bags of personality. Although the space is small, every inch is packed with items that inspire ideas – from the lamp and ceiling light to books, pictures, drawings, insects and collected treasures. Task lighting is crucial in a home office, so they opted for an adjustable floor lamp that will provide light but not get in the way.

Get the Look: The old school desk is from Castle Gibson and the floor lamp is from Caravan.

Victorian-style bathroom

This bathroom highlights how a mix of materials and details can work together – an ornate chandelier set against a backdrop of utility tiles, period fittings and a contemporary glass screen, together with the unexpected luxury of a Victorian fireplace. Deciding against a shower cubicle means the bathroom almost has the feel of a wetroom.

Get the Look: The bath and WC are from Drummonds. Buy similar bath and shower mixers from Holloways of Ludlow.

The second bathroom is a ‘getaway space’ for the couple. The black French gothic-style mirror and chair create a glamorous and dramatic look. The colour scheme is very flattering and romantic. An ornate mirror adds instant opulence.

Get the Look: The basin is by Duravit, in a stand from Lassco, and mounted in granite cut by a stonemason – visit Housetohome’s Directory to contact one near you.
