Kirstie Allsopp is famous for scouting vintage finds and collectables. One of her weaknesses, and a great way to update your home, is antique prints and frames. Mix different styles, and add in some black and white family photographs, "it'll instantly change the feel of a room."
1/5 Framed pictures
2/5 Repainted furniture
One of the simplest ways to change the look in your room is to repaint furniture. "There are a lot of new paints these days that are so easy to apply." If you want to be adventurous, try using a range of colours, but within the same palette.
3/5 Storage
Storage is a simple and effective way to clear away clutter, and thus create a new feel in a room. Try boxes and baskets in similar colours to your room scheme. Boxes are also great when kids are around; "they're so easy to stack and you can just throw all the toys away and out-of-sight in a instant."
4/5 Display
Channel your inner stylist and create a beautiful display using items you already have. "Sometimes all that's needed to change the mood of a room is rearranging furniture or accessories. If you've got the sense that something isn't right, just shift it about." Group similar accessories together, and don't be afraid to mix colours and styles.
5/5 Bedlinen
New bedlinen can make such a difference to a bedroom. "Even if you just plump pillows and add a simple throw, it'll transform a room from dull to luxurious." For a hotel-style look, go for different textures, especially silks, and layer up cushions.
