9 reasons why cork is having a style revival
Durable, textural and versatile, this natural material looks great on furniture, lighting and accessories
1. Salta cushion
Inspired by Argentina's salt flats, this Salta cushion (above), 45cm sq, from Mind The Cork, represents a blue sky above a high desert plain. Owing to cork's water-resistant qualities, the cushion is perfect for use indoors and out. It is available with a duck-feather or poly-cotton inner pad.
2. Stanley stool
Add a pop of colour to your home with this stackable Stanley stool, H44xdiam34cm, by Wrong for Hay at Nest. It is made from a bent steel tube frame with a cork seat and comes in five shades, including Light Grey, Dark Grey, Orange, Bordeaux and Green (above).
3. Cork placement
Give your table setting a fabulous finishing touch with this Cork placemat with White Triangles (above), diam40cm, from Bloomingville at Amara. Its simple white geometric print will bring a Scandinavian feel to meal times and the neutral palette will complement almost any scheme.

It may look like an over-ripe apple, but this Pomme paperweight and pin cushion is actually made from cork offcuts that were scattered around Norwegian designer Lars Beller Fjetland's workshop. The handy desk tidy is finished off with a leather stalk and it comes in Light and Dark (above), H11xdiam13cm, from Hem.
5. Picia pendant lights
With its sleek, elegant contours, the Picia pendant light, designed by Enrico Zanolla for Clippings, would look striking hung on its own, in a cluster or in a row of three over a dining table. It comes in a choice of four colours, including Clear (above left), Orchid Purple (above right), Placid Blue and Smoked, H16xdiam16cm.
When you are choosing a new dining table, cork may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, this soft, natural material is dirt-repellent and resistant to water. The Sinnerlig table with trestle-style legs (above),150x75cm, has organic appeal with impressive credentials, as it was designed by Ilse Crawford for Ikea. We love how the trestle legs give it an industrial edge, while the cork softens its appearance.
7. Saco storage basket
Store all manner of things, from makeup or textiles to craft supplies, in this useful and unique Saco cork storage basket in Natural (above), H14xdiam20cm, which is available from The Holding Company. The cork is backed onto fabric, so that the basket is hardwearing and pliable, but also feel soft to the touch.
8. Cork side table
Furniture and storage in one elegant form, this Cork side table comes in a choice of 22 colours (shown above in Portofino Blue), H43.5xdiam48cm, and was designed Naoto Fukasawa for Serralunga. It can be used as a stool or side table thanks to its functional cork lid, but also has space inside to store plenty of bits and pieces.
9. Capri shopper
This Capri shopper (above), H35xW24xD12cm, from Pelcor at Wolf & Badger, is made from sustainable weaved cork skin for guilt-free shopping. The roomy bag has details in vegan leather and a trendy and contemporary design, with a crafty touch. It also has a magnet fastening and removable internal pouch.
