If you are looking for a new way to spruce up your home for spring, florals are the answer. Chic and romantic, floral details are right on trend this year, and bringing them into your home couldn't be easier, thanks to Sainsbury's. The store has a stunning new collection of home accessories brimming with ditsy blooms and painterly flowers - perfect to create a look that's modern with a touch of vintage.

"Inspired by the romantic glamour of the Edwardian era, this elegant trend mixes floral chinoiserie prints for a pretty, feminine look," says Andrew Tanner, who is Head of Home Design at Sainsbury's. "The range comprises home accessories, cushions and bedding in delicate, water-colour shades of lavender, rose and sage, bedecked with lace, embroidery and beaded finishes."

For a subtle accent, you can dress up your walls with a floral print canvas or create a pretty faux flower arrangement to brighten up a cabinet. If you'd rather embrace the floral theme more deeply, though, you could perk up both your living room and your bedroom with a selection of cushions and soft furnishings.

Choose (and stick to) a colour palette - we love the fresh combination of soft purple, pink and pale blue, offset by a touch of cream - but mix and match different patterns to avoid a boringly 'matchy' look. Pair ditsy little blooms with bold and beautiful prints and throw in some floral embroidery to add both variety and texture. You could even consider floral upholstery to rejuvenate your sofa or your bedstead. Carry on the theme with floral accessories - think patterned suitcases or lampshades - and don't forget to scatter some pomanders to bring in a flowery fragrance.

Build on the romantic note with plenty of lace, from white-lace frames for your prettiest pictures to beautiful lace-pattern glass jars. Glass and textured ceramics are the perfect foil for your floral scheme. Choose vases in your palette and group them on a bedside or side cabinet.

To finish off the look, choose a soft, romantic lighting scheme. Botanical glass candles are ideal, especially when paired with vintage-look lanterns - Sainsbury's Springtime Bloom collection includes a particularly pretty rose gold lantern that injects luxe and glamour into any room.
