Dream hanging garden seats and hammocks
Country Homes & Interiors has found three dream places for snoozing outside on a sunny day
As soon as the sun appears, a country garden becomes more appealing than
ever and out come the chairs and loungers. ‘We are spending more time
at home and using the garden as an extension of the interior,' says Gina
Hinde, Hartman. ‘Finding furniture that is beautiful,
long lasting and can almost take care of itself is a priority for
homeowners now.' There are some great innovations when it comes to
furniture for relaxation, which is just as well because stealing a nap
in the garden to catch up on sleep is a must for many at the weekends.
Hammocks, swings and hanging pods are perfect for solitary reading or
simply dozing the afternoon away. Zzzzzzz...
Big gardens can take dramatic large-scale pieces of furniture, such as this fabulous swing seat, which is truly luxurious. ‘The Swingrest fits perfectly into almost any surroundings, whether a terrace, verandah or garden,' says Bobby Dekeyser, Dedon. It even has an integrated occasional table and can be used suspended or free standing on its own base. Dedon Swingrest; seat cushion; scatter cushions,

Introduce a holiday mood with a hammock and it will never stand idle! ‘A hammock is a real gem and helps me relax away from the daily hassles,' says Christin Gaber, Amazonas. ‘Include a stand and enjoy the benefits even if you don't have trees to secure it to.' The Rio hammock is made from soft comfortable fabric with hand-woven borders trimmed with macramé - a wonderful example of Brazilian craftsmanship. The Arcus frame is made from durable larch with stainless-steel fittings and adjustable chain suspension.

If you are looking for garden furniture that scores highly on the design front and is a real conversation piece, then this galvanized zinc pod ticks all the boxes. ‘It's as much a work of art as it is a comfortable and fun seat to swing around in,' says Harry Peto, The Chelsea Gardener. ‘It's made to your dimensions and colour choice, and the open metalwork blends perfectly with its surroundings.'
