The owners instantly fell in love with the high ceilings, large windows and the generous proportions of this two-storey west London apartment, but the space needed re-configuring to create a perfect family home. To help with the decoration, the owners enlisted the expertise of interior designer Monique Beauval-Nash.

Living room
Modern sofas and neutral walls add a sense of calm to the space, which is kept warm in winter by an underfloor heating system.

Dining room
A dining room links with an adjoining living room, with the same paint colour and flooring throughout. Padded benches replace dining chairs, and a desk is secreted behind the cupboard doors.

Tall carved figures from Ethiopia accentuate the lofty ceiling, and stand-out against the white wall.

Kitchen
The kitchen is made into an everyday living space, with an area for informal dining. A full-width folding door floods the room with light.

Bedroom
A simple desk unit is great for clearing away toys and clutter while maintaining character and personality in the bedroom. The blue geometric headboard matches the cushions perfectly to create a fresh burst of colour.

This bedroom is calm, sleek and minimalist for a light and airy feel. The green striped blinds add an accent of colour.
