Find out the latest trends for shower rooms – Country Homes & Interiors shows you how to create the modern country bathroom of your dreams.
From the metal that is making a return to the spotlight to the best enclosure designs, we reveal what’s new in the world of bathroom design.
The latest shower enclosures offer a beautifully sleek
profile. ‘Walk-in showers are in high demand right now, especially with
those who want to enjoy the easy freedom of a wet room but prefer to
keep water contained,’ says Laura Jones, Head of Product, Bathstore.
‘They can work very well in smaller country bathrooms as there are no
bulky moving parts to detract from the stylish look.’

Brass is back!
After years out of fashion, brass is again in the spotlight
as the metal of the moment for showers. ‘Brass has a warm and very
natural look, which makes it particularly suitable for country
bathrooms. It also adds warmth and ages beautifully, achieving a lovely
laidback vintage patina over time,’ says Drummond Shaw, Chairman,
Dalby thermostatic shower with 300mm rose and hand shower in brass, from £2,394, Drummonds.
The newest ‘barely there’ enclosures are perfect if you like a
clean, pared-down look and don’t want to obstruct wonderful rustic
elements like exposed beams. ‘A semi-frameless enclosure also helps give
the illusion of space in the shower room and doesn’t detract from the
architectural features within the room,’ says Kate Griffiths, Marketing
Minima hinged enclosure, from £1,589, Kohler.
Size really does matter when it comes to showering so go as big as you can for both the enclosure and showerhead.
