This open-plan kitchen sits next to a dining room, offering a perfect layout for entertaining. A large bay window takes in the beautiful rural views and is dressed in red blinds studded in crystals to match the floor and worktops. The colour of the easy-to-clean, black lacquered units is echoed on the floor by the border of granite.
1/8 Open-plan kitchen
The kitchen was designed by Sandra Bryant with Val Way (01635 820631)
2/8 Kitchen island
The owner wanted the kitchen island to resemble the curves on a ship. It boasts an extra ledge for serving food and drinks, sturdy storage drawers, and a pop-up bank of sockets in the top for powering hand-held appliances. In the evenings, plinth lighting around the base picks out the twinkling specks in the floor, setting the mood for entertaining.
The Rubi quartz composite floor and worktops are from Imperial Marble & Granite (opens in new tab).
3/8 Kitchen cooker
Symmetry was an important aspect of the owners vision and the cooker range, with its spacious, self-cleaning twin ovens, suited the plans perfectly. The owner opted for red knobs to pick up on the colour of the worksurface and floor.

4/8 Infared lighting
Over the cooker, a matching extractor boasts infrared heat lamps to warm plates and keep food hot. These handy racks are part of the stainless-steel splashback.
5/8 Fridge freezer
A step down to the kitchen from the living room adds to the impact and sense of drama. The aluminium fridge-freezer doors help to break up the run of black funiture, and echoes the brushed-steel bar handles. It's flanked by a pair of slim pull-out larders that store dry food.
The fridge-freezer is from Viking (opens in new tab).
6/8 Kitchen tap and sink
As an experienced restaurateur, the owner chose a chrome, professional-style tap to complement the two sinks. The pull-out rinse function of the tap is extremely useful for washing fruit, salad leaves and vegetables.

7/8 Glasswasher
The glasswasher has been handily positioned in the kitchen's 'drinks' zone, near the integrated wine cooler and instant hot water tap. Its speed and efficiency make light work of cleaning glassware, which is essential for when the owner entertains.
The glasswasher is by Dexion
8/8 Cutlery drawer
Concealed behind black cupboard doors lie contrasting cutlery drawers, made from lacquered red MDF.
