Grey-painted, Shaker-style kitchen units and black-and-white floor tiles give this kitchen a traditional feel. The owners built the central island using offcuts of their wooden worktops.

Modern range cooker
To contrast with the country feel of the units, the owners chose a smart, stainless-steel range cooker. Simple, white wall tiles make an effective splashback within the recess.

Classic kitchen dresser
This country-style kitchen dresser was created using cupboards in a variety of sizes. The taupe colour gives the room a vintage feel.

Reclaimed kitchen sink
The owners of this house scoured reclamation yards for bargains and were rewarded with this second-hand butler-style kitchen sink, which had once been in a school. They picked it up for a bargain £30.
