Aaah birdsong... The official sign that spring has arrived and the long winter months are starting to fade into distant memory. Who doesn't feel better with a bit of sun on their face and the gentle cheeping of birds in the background.
But before this gets a bit too Disney, it's not just country folk that love this trend. Even hardened urbaniteshave been spotted with the odd cuckoo clock or bird print in their homes. It
doesn't make you any less 'trendy' to appreciate the appeal of a cute
little bird.
So now we've got that straight, it's time to celebrate our feathered friends in this
week's Hot Shopping with a bird-themed special. Enjoy.

1. First up is Ed Carpenter's pidgeon wall light. Some say it's over-exposed, some say it's over-priced, we say it still looks as cool as the first time we spotted it. And we want one. Choose from an array of zingy colours or plump for the minimalist's favourite - crisp white.
Pidgeon wall light, £67, Rume (opens in new tab)
2. Banish
any twee, 'country' associations with this graphic neon bird cushion
design. We can totally picture this in a New York loft or an East London warehouse. Team it with
reclaimed wooden furniture, industrial lighting and heaps of attitude to
make all your hipster friends jealous. 'It's sooo Shoreditch darhling...'
Neon bird linen cushion, £39, Oliver Bonas. (opens in new tab)
3. Pretend you're in a Disney film and make the wildlife in your house work for you. This little fella might not sweep your floors and clean your house (we've watched too much Snow White) but it will stand guard over your house keys. And at only £10.50 its a bargain, so get it while it's going cheep (sorry, we couldn't resist).
Sparrow keyring, £10, Cubic. (opens in new tab)
4. Show how bohemian you are with this set of mismatched side plates featuring different patterns and designs. They're exactly the kind of retro-style plates you might discover in a vintage shop; just without all the searching.
Chirpy set of 4 side plates, £20, Magpie.
