In this episode of Designer Spotlight we look at the latest fabric trends with Scion designer, Hannah Bowen. Hannah talks through the emerging trends, the hot new fabrics set to be big for A/W16 and shows us a sneak peek of what’s to come from Scion.
“The big trend we saw was organic geometrics – harsh lines and block shapes. There is an evident hand of the maker and you can see that are present in the imperfections of our design.”
Speaking about the new collection, she says: “We have been inspired by sculpture – semi circles and teardrop shapes for example. . We used chunky cloth we worked closely with our mills to produce new cloth. A lot of the uniqueness comes from the gorgeous new cloths that we have. We looked at quite a lot of architecture, quite a lot of the shapes we have used are angular, such as triangles. If you look at skyscrapers you often get a repeat pattern within a pattern so a lot of the shapes have come from architecture although we have got some more organic shapes in there.”
“If I had to describe my style in 3 words it would be bold, illustrative and playful.” concludes Hannah.
